Interactive Learning Object

Target Audience

3rd grade students with some navigation skills on Microsoft Word.

Objectives

Students can recall the five rules for online safety.

Students can explain key points about each of the five rules for online safety.

Limitation of project

Do to need for more participants and time restraints, more clipart was used than preferred.

I do not like the autoplay option.  It minimizes the use of the seat belt link to return to the main screen as students are most likely going to advance to the next slide and just going.  When presenting this to students I will likely save it to computer and have then watch it as a PowerPoint presentation.

Design choices

Narration on each slide makes the easier to communicate a large amount of information in a timely manner and accounts differentiation for students with limited reading capacities.

Minimal wording and supportive pictures gives the students chances to make more and stronger connections without cognitive overload.

The navigation between slides allows steamed thought and chance to pick own path in learning.  Auto timed slides make sure that the student keeps progress moving challenging them to keep thinking.  The chance to pick between rules allows students free choice and the ability to re-watch elements.

Quiz question on end of each section provides general knowledge check and require students to be more attentive during the videos and narration.

*Full PowerPoint is not uploaded as this file is very large with the amount of video and sound included. If this Mix does not work properly with sounds on most slides and video, tell me and I will find a way to get the full PowerPoint file to you.*
