Badge #14: Micro Teaching #1

I believe that my first micro-teaching went very well. I selected a topic that interested me that wasn’t on the recommended list: standardizing technology in the classroom. I feel that I had a good sense of Adobe Connect, despite not having much classtime to be exposed to it. I tried to plan a variety of different activities to keep everyone engaged. We shared our feelings by changing statuses (raising hands, etc.), we discussed things in chat, and we engaged in small group work to discuss a hypothetical scenario. The following are some screenshots from my presentation.

I broke the class up into groups to discuss these topics.

This is what Adobe Connect looked like during the group synthesis on my iPad.

Here is what some students have said about my first micro teaching:

Susan: “The breakout groups for group discussion gave us a lot of great feedback.  I liked that you divided up the topic and had us each handle a different aspect. It was thought provoking to consider the application of technology standards in education.”

Narmada: “You organized your lesson well. You defined standards, moved on to Common Core and finally went on to talk about your main issue which was whether there should be standards with respect to technology skills. The objective of the lessons was apparent across your transitions.”
