Preparing for Skillathon

Livestock Skillathons are right around the corner! Saturday, August 19th.

If you have not already seen or heard of the study guides, here is where you can find a digital copy of them! Under this tab you can also find the entry forms, that have also been mailed out.

https://morgan.osu.edu/program-areas/4-h-youth-development/morgan-county-fair

There are 3 stations to complete. One will focus on your project record book, another will focus on quality assurance and project specific questions, and lastly, there is a station on an activity topic explained in the study guide.

Buckeye Bunny will be there this year to sell some supplies for any exhibitors that want to utilize that!

Also we are in need of volunteers to work the stations at Skillathon. If you are interested in this opportunity please contact Sophia; whisman.30@osu.edu 740-252-5435. There are shift opportunities available!

OTC To Rx

All Livestock Exhibitors and families!

As most of you know who attended QA this year there was a new rule change regarding certain over the counter medications for livestock moving to prescription only.

Attached is a link to some helpful factsheets discussing this topic such as which products will be impacted, why the change is happening and how to be prepared!

I hope this is helpful to you all during this transition!

Poultry Biosecurity

As we move through bird migration and enter 4H poultry livestock season I want to provide a bunch of links and helpful information.  The 2022-2023 HPAI outbreak is ongoing and there are still detections of disease in neighboring states.  We are heading towards peak migratory bird migration in the next month, so it is crucial that we practice our very best biosecurity in order to maximize our chances of a successful 4H poultry livestock season in 2023.

A great super short video that updates on how to keep your flock safe from HPAI:

Attached is the tri-fold on HPAI.

There will be a zoom on poultry disease as part of a three-part webinar series on poultry hosted by Lizz Share and OSU State 4H. There will be an update on HPAI during the presentation given by Ted McDermott.
