April 1st is coming quickly! If you have not done so already, please get enrollments in for any youth, adult volunteer, riding therapy volunteer that want to participate in 4-H for 2024!

Our deadline is April 1st and no late enrollments will be accepted so get them in while there is still time!

Upcoming Teen Opportunity

Do you have any, 13-18 as of Jan 1st, teens interested in getting a short-term experience at the state level as a 4-H Event Youth Assistant?

 

 

  • What: 4-H Event Youth Assistant (4HEYA)
  • Who: Individuals age 13-18 (as of January 1 of the year of application) and have at least 1 year prior 4-H experience.
  • Timeframe: Apply by May 15, selection, training, service to OSF, and evaluation. Complete responsibilities by August 31, 2024.
  • Requirements (in addition to application/selection process):
    • Training – Must attend one of the options for training (July 10 or July 18)
      • Please note: individuals MUST attend one of the training options. This is not negotiable. If you know you are unable to attend a training option before applying, it is best to wait another year before applying to serve in this capacity.
    • Events – Must work a minimum of 3 events at the Ohio State Fair; may work more if desired
  • Program Fee: $25/person (paid at go.osu.edu/4HEYA25);
  • Teens Receive:
    • 4HEYA Polo & Nametag
    • State Fair admission, parking ticket, and meal ticket(s)
    • Optional State Fair housing in the Rhodes Center (if desired)
    • Experience of working events at the Ohio State Fair
    • Opportunity to enhance leadership skills and be involved in the State 4-H program

Cloverbud STEM Day: LAST REMINDER

The registration for our first Cloverbud STEM day is live and closes next week! Secure your cloverbud’s spot now! Registration closes THIS Friday on March 22nd!
Cloverbuds explore a variety of topics related to health, environment, community, and STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The Cloverbud program provides an excellent opportunity for each individual to reach his/her highest potential because early life experiences affect future development. Cloverbud STEM day includes activities led by older youth in the county. The program is March 29th from 10am-12pm at the Morgan County Fairgrounds. The theme for this Cloverbud STEM Day is “The Changing of the Seasons” which includes all things related to seasons changing. There is a $5 per participant fee for materials and payments are accepted up until the day of the event (cash/check). Space is limited to 30 participants due to our low numbers of older youth. Make sure to complete your registration by March 22nd to allow enough time for staff and activity leaders to prepare and gather supplies.

OHIO 4-H LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT RETREAT (hosted by the Ohio 4-H Teen Leadership Council)

When: April 12-13, 2024 (Friday early evening through Saturday afternoon – Dinner, Breakfast, and Lunch provided)

Where: 4-H Camp Palmer

Who: 4-H youth ages 13-18 interested in strengthening existing leadership skills

*Great opportunity for Camp Counselor training hours, JFB members, club officers, etc. – ~5 hours of counselor training available

Cost: $40 (covers overnight stay at camp plus 3 meals and a 4-H SWAG item)

*Sponsored by the Sauder 4-H Career Development Fund!

What: Teens will participate in interactive and engaging activities related to leadership skills, teambuilding strategies, conflict management, and other life, career, and college readiness skills.

Take advantage of this awesome opportunity put on by Wyoming 4-H. Learn about what it takes to do different careers such as; midwife, wildlife refuge manager, wildlife firefighter, fly fishing guide, wildlife biologist, film producer and many more! March 19th at 8pm get your questions answered about what degree you would need for careers and other advice for those soon to be joining the workforce!

The Ohio State University Extension Small Ruminants Team is hosting a 6-part All About Goats! spring webinar series. This webinar series is going to answer producers burning questions concerning their own herd and help new producers start their herds. Whether you are thinking about raising Dairy or Meat goats- this webinar is for you! All youth livestock exhibitors are encouraged to attend.
