The 4-H Legacy Dinner; In spirit only this year

This evening, on the eve of what could have and should have been the 11th Annual Fairfield County 4-H Endowment’s Legacy Dinner most of us are at home eating what Dennis the Menace calls “groceries again!” Everyone on the Endowment Board and our 300 guests always look forward to sharing this fun evening of good food and good friends to raise funds to continue the legacy and tradition of the 4-H Program.

This year it is different, there is no Legacy Dinner due to COVID-19 and the Endowment Board decided in mid-April to cancel the Dinner. The Board knew there was absolutely no way to adequately have social distancing measures in place. But over the year’s what fun we have had!!!

In 2020, due to the pandemic the Endowment Board met virtually and decided a new initiative was in order. A one-time ask for donations to help cover the cost of County-Wide Dues for every member of the Fairfield County 4-H program. Our goal was $5,000.00 for 1,000 youth in the 4-H program. Today, on the eve of what would have been the June 11, 2020 Legacy Dinner we have not only reached but exceeded the goal!! Thank you to all of those who have donated to help us reach the goal of paying 4-H dues for our 4-H youth. Thank you for believing what every member of the Endowment Board believes..in the end, it is really all about the kids!!

If you would like to donate, the donations received in excessive of the $5,000 amount needed will be used for County Wide Dues for 4-H Clubs in 2021. You can send your donation directly: Fairfield County 4-H Endowment  P.O. Box 564, Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or contact any of our Board members for more information.

4-H Legacy Dinner Cancelled

To our friends and supporters of the Fairfield County 4-H Endowment, we thank you for your continued support of all our efforts. After much careful and thoughtful consideration, the 4-H Endowment Board has decided to cancel the 11th annual 4-H Legacy Dinner which was originally scheduled for June 11, 2020 at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds. This is the result of extreme caution and the concerns for safe distancing and the co-mingling of large numbers of people during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Please watch your mailbox for a communication from the Endowment Committee offering a giving opportunity that will ultimately assist 4-H Clubs with payment of their county-wide 4-H dues. Again, we sincerely thank you for your support of the Fairfield County 4-H Endowment and their activities.

If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact any of the Endowment Board members.

Are you ready to “Get your Give On?”

30-Hours of Giving, December 3rd at 8am – December 4th at 2pm

#GivingTuesday is a nationwide movement to raise awareness of community philanthropy and encourage spending with a purpose. Similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are synonymous with holiday shopping, the goal of #GivingTuesday is to designate a day dedicated to giving back, where people will take collaborative action to improve their local communities, support their favorite charities and causes, and help create a better world.

In Fairfield County, we celebrate #GivingTuesday with the 30-Hour Give through the Fairfield County Foundation. This year the Fairfield County Foundation is ready to help local community members increase their impact by awarding $30,000 in gifts, matching donations made over 30 hours, starting December 3 at 8am and running through December 4 at 2pm.

For the last six years, the Fairfield County Foundation has participated in #GivingTuesday, inspiring our local community members to work together to improve the community and Continue reading Are you ready to “Get your Give On?”

The 4-H Legacy ‘Giving Tree’

The ‘Giving Tree’ offers another alternative for folks to give back to 4-H. In this brief video, Sherry Kilbarger explains how money, up to a total of $1000, donated to the Fairfield County 4-H Endowment through the ‘Giving Tree’ will be matched by Ohio State, thus, doubling the value of your donation.

Why Do These Local Businessmen Choose to ‘Give Back?’

Have you ever wondered why a couple of local businessmen might feel it important to find a way to give back to their 4-H roots? Connie visits with Fairfield County 4-H alums Ron Ruff and Steve Eversole and explores why they take time each year to participate in the activities of the 4-H Endowment Board, and the annual Legacy Dinner and Auction.

4-H Endowment is THANKFUL for YOUR Support

This past year the Fairfield County 4-H Endowment board has been extremely busy. First, our annual fund raising effort was held in mid-June at the Miller Farm Shop near Pleasantville. With nearly 300 individuals in attendance, we were able to raise over $20,000 for the 4-H Endowment funds. Those funds will ultimately help to sponsor trips, educational events and purchase program supplies for youth currently enrolled in the Fairfield County 4-H program.

Fast forward to Sunday, October 7, 2018 and the 4-H Endowment board gathered again to help kick off the Fairfield County Fair with a pancake flippin’ good time awareness Breakfast. Again, nearly 300 early morning 4-H members, parents and friends enjoyed the donation breakfast. It has become a tradition and a great way to start the Fairfield County Fair.

During the 4-H Panorama, the 4-H Endowment board presented a check for over Continue reading 4-H Endowment is THANKFUL for YOUR Support
