The 2017 Legacy Auction

It’s become customary to feature both a Live and Silent auction of donated items during the annual Legacy Dinner. 100% of the proceeds from the donated items benefit the Fairfield County 4-H Endowment. 2017 was no different with many great donations being offered. Below is a partial listing of what was donated for the 2017 auction.

  • Back by popular demand! Lancaster’s oldest independent grocery – Bay Food Market along with Bay Packing have donated half a processed hog. The winning bidder will fill their freezer with locally grown bacon, ham, pork chops, sausage and more.
  • Keller Farms Landscape & Nursery has donated a $250 shopping spree at any of their locations, for any of their services or products. The winning bidder may shop at the Keller Farms garden store outlet or greenhouse, or choose from any of their other services including award winning landscape designs and installations, site management, irrigation, seasonal color, lawn care maintenance, sports turf care, erosion control, snow & ice management, or holiday decorating.
  • Again this year, one winning bidder will receive four (4) 2017 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo Tickets, being held on Monday, December 11 at the Thomas and Mack Center on the campus of UNLV. These tickets are the generous donation of the Michael Family.
  • Thomas Fallon Photography has donated an heirloom quality portrait of your family that includes a one hour portrait planning consultation, one hour portrait session, and a one hour design and decor session. Inclusive, this is an $1185 value. Thomas Fallon is an award winning photographer who travels the country creating his elegant illustrative portraiture.
  • A framed and matted artist proof of the painting Here’s Looking at Ewe by C. J. Brown has been donated by Connie and Stan Smith.
  • You have the opportunity to bid on a $495 Gift Certificate good to be applied towards either custom wall art from the Thomas Fallon portfolio in any size and finish, or one of Fallon’s Limited Edition prints.
  • An green farm tractor, framed painting has been donated by MerrieLinn Fisher. Get a sneak preview of MerrieLinn’s original painting linked here.
  • Carol Black has once again donated a hand drawn, hand hooked mat depicting the old draft horse barn at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds, framed in barnwood. All the materials in this mat originate from Fairfield County including the raw wool it’s created of. This is the second in a series of county fair framed rugs Carol has planned! Here’s a sneak peek of Carol’s one of a kind creation for this year’s Legacy Auction.
  • Six (6) tickets and a parking pass to the Columbus Clippers vs Toledo Mudhens on August 6 have been donated by Buckeye Ready Mix
  • And, Buckeye Ready Mix is also donating 2 tickets to the Ohio State vs UNLV football game on September 23, PLUS, you’ll get to be a part of the Buckeye Ready Mix tailgate . . . thanks Randy Painter!!!
  • ADM Grain, Columbus, has donated 4 tickets and parking pass to an upcoming Columbus Clippers game in July.
  • McQuires Distinctive Truck of Carroll has donated this Husqvarna chain saw to the auction.
  • Special Gift Baskets for the Silent Auction have been donated by 4 Creation 4-H Club, Bremen Best Friends 4-H Club, and Unleashed 4-H Club!
  • The Baltimore Ace Hardware is donating this Stihl String Trimmer to the auction.
  • Sally Grimm has donated this beautiful hand crafted, red, white and blue American Eagle quilt for the benefit of the 4-H Endowment.
  • Frank Cox will be donating another one of his hand crafted knives to this year’s auction.
  • If you enjoy Vera Bradley, Cindy Tenney has donated one large Vera Bradley handbag.
  • Homemade pies – 2 peach and 2 blackberry – are being made and offered to the 4-H Legacy auction by Fairfield County 4-H alum Carol Black.
  • Send two of your friends down the river in a canoe! Fox’s Hocking Hills Canoe Livery at Logan is providing 2 adult tickets for a 5 mile canoe trip on the Hocking River that will be included in the Date Night Basket offering that’s being provided for the Silent Auction by the Blue Ribbon Showmen 4-H Club.
  • First year Fairfield County 4-H member Campbell Reese is selecting one of her Ohio State Fair market turkeys and will have it harvested and delivered to the winning bidder by mid-August.  This whole, home grown turkey will be vacuum sealed and perfect to keep in the freezer for your family Thanksgiving feast this year.
  • Thanks to Evolution Ag of Ohio for donating this pink Farmall M kiddie tractor to benefit the Fairfield County 4-H Endowment.
  • Enjoy a two night stay in the 3 bedroom Brookside Cottage in the beautiful Hocking Hills. The cabin includes king, queen and full size beds, two full baths with Jacuzzi tubs, a hot tub and full kitchen. The winning bidder may enjoy their stay at the time of their choice except for October (subject to cabin’s availability). This donation to the 4-H Legacy Auction is being made by Melissa Brown on behalf of Dalton and Lexie Hyme.
  • Tractor Supply Company‘s District Manager Mr. Jon Myers has donated a $500 TSC gift card good for any of your purchases at TSC stores.
  • Doyle Club Lambs has donated a lamb wool pelt to the auction!
  • The Extraordinary Explorers 4-H Club has donated a Summer Fun Cart pack with supplies for your next summer adventure. This unique 4 wheeled cart is packed with everything from a charcoal grill to portable hammock, and red, white and blue drink dispenser to a first aid kit!
  • TJ & Maggie Mann, also of the Extraordinary Explorers have donated a $150 Home Design & Organization gift certificate.
  • Debbie Miller has called on the passion for yeast baking she acquired during her days in 4-H and is bringing her homemade Pecan Rolls as well as a batch of her famous Cinnamon Rolls. While she’s in the kitchen, she’s also baking a Strawberry-rhubarb pie that originates directly from her garden. And, while she’s waiting for everything to come out of the oven, she’s also creating a decorative Barb Wire Boot for the auction table.
  • This grouping of decorative cast cement leaves has been donated to the 4-H Legacy Benefit Auction by Fairfield County Master Gardener Lise Ricketts!
  • Rural King has donated a 42 inch MaxxAir cooling fan to benefit the 4-H Endowment.
  • Fairfield County Dairy Princess Olivia Ross and Dairy Ambassador Grant Michael has assembled and donated this Dairy Gift Basket to the silent auction.
  • Ronald Ruff, CPA has donated a Rockside Winery & Vineyards Wine Basket that includes 6 of Rockside’s best selling wines along with glasses, opener, aerator and towels!
  • Thank you Fairfield National Bank for your donation of the Ohio Pottery Basket to the auction.
  • Five straws of Shorthorn beef bull semen from TRNR STAR POWER have been donated to the auction by Tom and Susie Turner of Turner Shorthorns near Somerset.
  • Kelly Hanna Abbott HER Realty has offered to the auction an OSU Gift Basket complete with 2 tickets to the Ohio State vs UNLV football game on September 23.

The auctions as well as dinner were held under the open air comfort of tents at the Grube farmstead. The auction was headed up by Legacy Auction co-chairs Tarah Reed and Wendy Beveridge. Just for reference, here’s a listing of most of the items that folks enjoyed bidding on at the 2016 auction.
