Join us for the 10th anniversary celebration of the Fairfield County 4-H Endowment Dinner and Auction, held this year in the Ed Sands/Farm Bureau Building on the Fairfield County Fairgrounds. We’re excited about this new location that offers ample parking, no need for portable restrooms, and an opportunity for lots of reflection back on the great traditions of years gone by.

The Fairfield County 4-H Youth Development program strives to teach leadership, citizenship and life skills to the 1342 4-H club members who have enrolled in 3197 projects this year. While most young people are participating in traditional 4-H club experiences, children who are not yet 4-H age can participate in a non-competing, activity based curriculum known as the Cloverbud program. Admittedly, the annual 4-H Legacy Auction provides opportunities for a multitude of supporters to raise funds that will help ensure a bright future for Fairfield County’s 4-H Youth Development program. However at the same time, it’s also become an enjoyable and entertaining tradition featuring a variety of donated items for both a Live and Silent auction. Plus, 100% of the proceeds of the Auction benefit the Fairfield County 4-H Endowment.

While we don’t have all of the final details or numbers just yet, judging from all the smiles, handshakes and kind remarks, the 2017 Legacy Dinner & Auction was a great success. Over 280 individuals were registered for the event and with all of the helpers and Junior Leaders attending we estimate over 300 individuals were served.
A great meal featured Leg of Lamb – expertly prepared by Kris Doyle and Frank Cox, Pork Tenderloins – cooked to perfection by Doug and Aaron Leith, and some awesome Beef Loins – prepared by Cheryl Majors. Special thanks to Bower and Sons Meats & Sausages for some of the biggest baked potatoes ever, to Maradore Farms for providing the Swiss cheese, and to Ruffwing Farms for sharing their newly created Tuemma (Sheep) Cheese for great additions to the appetizer table. In 2010 the 4-H Legacy Dinner & Auction was begun in an effort to create a formal annual event where local 4-H supporters could come together for an evening of fun and fellowship benefiting the Fairfield County 4-H Endowment. To conduct such an event each year it takes the cooperation and support of many different individuals and businesses. One of those groups of supporters are the contributing sponsors that have generously donated funding and services that will allow for a comfortable evening on the 22nd celebrating 4-H Youth Development.

Yes, it’s back by popular demand and it’s also the first donation to the 2017 4-H Legacy Auction. Lancaster’s oldest independent grocery – Bay Food Market – along with Bay Packing have stepped up once again and donated half a processed hog that will be auctioned off during the evening!
