  1. Lauren, This project contributes to our understanding of D/HH infants visual attention. I really liked your interpretation of the findings. It’s important to see both differences and similarities. Great work and very nice presentation!

    • Thank you very much Dr. Houston! I appreciate your input. I agree, I especially think the similarities we found can really shed some light on what we know about development in deaf children.

  2. Great presentation, Lauren! I’m not sure what was your measure of joint attention on slide 4; were those in seconds? I was also wondering if you looked at infant’s attention to eyes vs. mouth, as previous research showed a developmental change of infant attention to eyes and mouth, at least for children with typical hearing.

    • Thank you Dr. Wang! The measurement used on slide 4 was the proportion of overall time spent in joint attention with the parent’s face. We did not look at differences between looking at the eyes and mouth as we just focused on face looking overall, but that would be a great area to investigate!

  3. Interesting work, Lauren. I appreciated that you did not gloss over the similarities, as I think those are as important as differences in these groups. Nice work!

    • Thank you very much Dr. Holt! I agree – sometimes the similarities we find between different groups can be just as insightful as their differences.
