Team Meeting Notes

Meeting 1

  • Location: Hitchcock 224
  • Time: 1/10/18, 9:35 am – 10:55 am
  • At this meeting the group learned what the AEV project would entail, and began to complete the necessary parts.
    • Bryce Baumgardner: Added meeting notes and printed the AEV kit agreement.
    • Christopher Vargas: Created the website and volunteered to take home AEV kit.
    • Connor Weyrick: Printed checklist for AEV kit and conducted inspection for any missing parts.
    • Garrett Stickley: Not in attendance.
  • Before the the next meeting on 1/17/18, it is expected for everyone to prepare themselves for the introductory research and development for the project. Specifically, Connor will update the website, Christopher will begin introductory assembly of the AEV model, and Bryce will start researching initial development for the vehicle.

Meeting 2

  • Location: Hitchcock 224
  • Time: 1/17/18, 9:35 am – 10:55 am
  • At this meeting the group began the initialization of the programming system that will control the AEV. Specifically, the controls for accelerations and external sensors were coded. In addition, the initial design of the AEV was built.
    • Bryce Baumgartner: Involved in the coding and programming of the acceleration of the propellers.
    • Christopher Vargas: Built the initial design of the AEV, involved in the coding and programming of the external sensors.
    • Connor Weyrick: Built the initial design of the AEV, updated the website and meeting notes.
    • Garrett Stickley: Involved in the coding and programming of the acceleration of the propellers.
  • Before the next meeting on 1/24/18, it is expected for everyone to be proficient in the programming software dealing with acceleration of the propellers and the external sensors. Additionally, the group has to be prepared to continue the preliminary research and development aspect of the project. Also, each member has to make an initial concept sketch of the AEV.

Meeting 3

  • Location: Hitchcock 224
  • Time: 1/24/18, 9:35 am – 10:55 am
  • At this meeting the group continued the preliminary research and required for the AEV. Specifically, the sensors were attached to the AEV and were programmed and tested. In addition, the team came together and brainstormed the future of the AEV design, creating a team concept sketch from the four individual ones.
    • Bryce Baumgartner: Involved in the coding and programming on the sensors, gave input on the design of the AEV.
    • Christopher Vargas: Major inputter and creater of the team concept sketch.
    • Connor Weyrick: Gave input on the design of the AEV, updated the website and meeting notes.
    • Garrett Stickley: Involved in the coding and programming of the sensors, gave input on the design of the AEV.
  • Before the next meeting on 1/31/18, it is expected for everyone to immerse themselves in the knowledge surrounding the design analysis tool along with concept screening and scoring. In addition, the progress report is to be updated from the first three parts of the preliminary research and development lab, along with the website.

Meeting 4

  • Location: Hitchcock 224
  • Time: 1/31/18, 9:35 am – 10:55 am
  • At this meeting the group performed analysis of the power output of the AEV on the track during a test code. The data was stored and plotted using MATLAB. In addition, the roles for the preliminary R&D progress report were split up and brainstorming for the tasks being performed in the advanced R&D was performed.
    • Bryce Baumgartner: Involved in the on-desk and on-track testing of the AEV.
    • Christopher Vargas: Uploaded the audrino code to the AEV.
    • Connor Weyrick: Wrote the MATLAB code for the plotting of the data.
    • Garrett Stickley: Helped organized the distribution of the progress report roles.
  • Before the next meeting on 2/7/18, it is expected for everyone to have their part of the progress report completed. In addition, it has to be decided who in the group will put all the parts together and format the paper properly. Also, the group has to continue brainstorming and decide what aspects of the advanced R&D are going to be performed.

Meeting 5

  • Location: Hitchcock 224
  • Time: 2/7/18, 9:35 am – 10:55 am
  • At this meeting the group designed and implemented a laboratory setup that studied the alternative propulsion options for the AEV. All data relating to time, position, and power was stored and plotted with MATLAB. In addition, the roles for the first committee meeting were distributed.
    • Bryce Baumgartner: Involved in the on-desk and on-track testing of the AEV.
    • Christopher Vargas: Uploaded the arduino code to the AEV and plotted the graphs.
    • Connor Weyrick: Wrote the MATLAB code for the plotting of the data.
    • Garrett Stickley: Drew the alternative wheel in Solidworks.
  • Before the next meeting on 2/14/18, it is expected for everyone to know what they have to do in the committee meeting given their role. In addition, the group has to work together to produce a short oral presentation for the opportunity to receive a grant.

Meeting 6

  • Location: Hitchcock 224
  • Time: 2/14/18, 9:35 am – 10:55 am
  • At this meeting the group participated in various committee meetings to track the progress and efficiency of the AEV project as a whole. In addition, a grant proposal was produced and orally presented in an attempt to cover the monetary cost of the alternative propulsion system.
    • Bryce Baumgartner: Participated in the research and development committee meeting, presented the grant proposal.
    • Christopher Vargas: Participated in the human resources committee meeting.
    • Connor Weyrick: Participated in the public relationship committee meeting.
    • Garrett Stickley: Participated in the research and development committee meeting.
  • Before the next meeting on 2/21/18, it is expected for everyone to be prepared to finish the alternative propulsion and motor quantity labs. In addition, the group has to be prepared for the upcoming progress report over the whole advanced R&D segment of the project.

Meeting 7

  • Location: Hitchcock 224
  • Time: 2/21/18, 9:35 am – 10:55 am
  • At this meeting the group designed and implemented a laboratory setup that studied the motor quantity options for the AEV. All data relating to time, position, and power was stored and plotted with MATLAB. In addition, the roles for the R&D presentation were distributed.
    • Bryce Baumgartner: Participated in the hands-on manipulation of the design.
    • Christopher Vargas: Uploaded the code into the arduino board and downloaded the time, power, and position output into MATLAB.
    • Connor Weyrick: Kept track of the deliverables, taking pictures of each design and saving the MATLAB plots.
    • Garrett Stickley: Participated in the hands-on manipulation of the design.
  • Before the next meeting on 2/28/18, it is expected for everyone to prepare for the R&D presentation, including the visuals being presented as well as the oral aspect. In addition, the team has to complete the aR&D website updates.

Meeting 8

  • At this meeting the group put together and presented an overview of the progress and decisions made during the advanced research and development labs.
    • Bryce Baumgartner: Put together and presented the advanced propulsion segment of the presentation.
    • Christopher Vargas: Put together and presented the introduction segment of the presentation.
    • Connor Weyrick: Put together and presented the conclusion segment of the presentation.
    • Garrett Stickley: Put together and presented the motor quantity segment of the presentation.
  • Before the next meeting on 3/7/18, it is expected for everyone to prepare for the transition from research and development to final design and code implementation. In addition, the team has to complete the aR&D progress report.

Meeting 9

  • At this meeting the group used the design finalized from the research and development part of the project to complete performance test one.
    • Bryce Baumgartner: Worked on the hands-on manipulation of the AEV.
    • Christopher Vargas: Wrote and adjusted the arduino code, collected MATLAB data.
    • Connor Weyrick: Kept track of data for technical documentation, ensured safety of vehicle while it was on the track.
    • Garrett Stickley: Worked on the hands-on manipulation of the AEV.
  • Before the next meeting on 3/23/18, it is expected for everyone to work together to complete the CDR draft. In addition, the team has to be prepared for the second performance test.

Meeting 10

  • At this meeting the group used the design finalized from the research and development part of the project to complete performance test two.

  • Before the next meeting on 3/30/18, it is expected for everyone to prepare for the second committee meeting. In addition, the team has to focus on the final performance testing, in addition to final technical documentation.

Meeting 11

  • At this meeting the group prepared for the final performance testing aspect of the project, was involved in the second committee meeting, and started the final technical documentation.
    • Bryce Baumgartner: Worked on the hands-on manipulation of the AEV.
    • Christopher Vargas: Wrote and adjusted the arduino code, collected MATLAB data.
    • Connor Weyrick: Kept track of data for technical documentation, ensured safety of vehicle while it was on the track.

  • Before the next meeting on 4/9/18, it is expected for everyone to be ready to participate in the final performance testing. In addition, the team has to be ready to continue the final technical documentation as well as the AEV Showcase.

Meeting 12

  • At this meeting the group finalized the performance testing of the AEV and began focusing on the AEV showcase competition runs.
    • Bryce Baumgartner: Worked on the hands-on manipulation of the AEV.
    • Christopher Vargas: Wrote and adjusted the arduino code, collected MATLAB data.
    • Connor Weyrick: Kept track of data for technical documentation, ensured safety of vehicle while it was on the track.
    • Garrett Stickley: Worked on the hands-on manipulation of the AEV.
  • Before the next meeting on 4/16/18, it is expected for the team to prepare for the competition scenarios for the AEV Showcase. In addition, the team has to be ready to completely finish the remaining technical documentation for the project.

Meeting 13

  • At this meeting the group practiced all three scenarios that will be offered at the AEV showcase, in addition to completing the remaining technical documentation.
