Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen. Global Awareness

During my time at Ohio State, I would like to travel abroad more than once if possible. I am a member of the Volunteers Around the World Veterinary organization at OSU, and this organization allows students to travel to poverty stricken areas of the world in order to participate in internships that will aide the local communities through educating about animal care and providing veterinary services. When I travel with the organization, I will be expanding my understanding of the cultures and communities around the world.

Original Inquiry

I intend to participate in undergraduate research as soon as my schedule allows. I am very interested in research in the animal sciences, and I am considering getting involved in my second semester. Once I do begin researching, this will better determine my interests and lead to a molding for my future researching and inquiry-based experiences.

Academic Enrichment

As an Honors student majoring in biology, my academic curriculum is bound to be challenging. I chose to study biology on the pre-veterinary track because I am interested in furthering my education to eventually obtain my DVM. This goal of mine is also a continuous pursuit of academic enrichment in that I crave to learn more and challenge myself in my studies. The prospect of continuing my studies in both the biological and animal sciences excites me.

Leadership Development

As previously mentioned, I am a member of the VAW Veterinary organization. I recently obtained the treasury executive board position. In order to be a successful treasurer, I will need to communicate, be committed, and accountable. These are all important qualities of a leader, and they will be developed through my treasury position.

Service Engagement

My membership in VAW Veterinary will allow me to work with communities in need in order to better the understanding and care for the local animals. I also intend to get involved with the 4-Paws organization on campus in which I will be able to participate in the training of service dogs. These organizations will allow me to work with communities, both local and global, in order to benefit those who are involved.

Career

[“Career” is where you can collect information about your experiences and skills that will apply to your future career.  Like your resume, this is information that will evolve over time and should be continually updated.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen. Artifacts

[Artifacts are the items you consider to be representative of your academic interests and achievements. For each entry, include both an artifact and a detailed annotation.  An annotation includes both a description of the artifact and a reflection on why it is important to you, what you learned, and what it means for your next steps.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen.
