Audrey Begun and Jennie Babcock of the College of Social Work presented advice for assisting students struggling in online courses. This centered around active engagement and creating a community within the course. They provided tops to monitor student progress, identify who was struggling, and take actionable steps to help them get back on track.
Learning Goals included:
- Design courses to prevent student disengagement by front-loading community-building activities.
- Recognize signs of student disengagement and struggling in the online context.
- Take active steps to engage struggling students with purposeful, effective interventions.
