Please read through the entire message below to be aware of important upcoming events and programs.

Sewing Pattern and Fabric Selection Nights – Tonight and April 24th!

For any 4-H member taking a sewing project is recommended that you attend the Open House event at JoAnn Fabrics in Wooster. There will be 4-H Clothing Volunteers to help you choose your pattern and/or fabric that will best fit your project. This event will be April 17th and 24thfrom 6-8:30 pm. If you have any sewing project questions this would be a great time to ask them!

NEW FOR 2017 – Quality Assurance is separate from the County Skillathon.

Two Wayne County Quality Assurance Dates are left:

April 26th & May 25th

Registration at 6:30 p.m. | Training 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Fisher Auditorium, OARDC

Other Dates Available

Members must attend one of these evenings or another QA training. Quality Assurance MUST be completed by August 1st. There will be one final QA Training on August 1 with a $25 fee associated. If you completed Quality Assurance at a program outside of Wayne County, proof must be sent to the Extension Office by August 1.

Reminder – Tonight’s Junior Leaders meeting has been moved from ATI to the Extension Office at 7:00 pm.

Club Officers Training – Tuesday April 4th, 7:00 pm, Fisher Auditorium!  Officers be there to learn more about your role and responsibilities as club officers and earn points for your club’s STAR Award!

Churn it up – National Dairy Yield competition.  You could win a $5,500 scholarship!

Last chance to purchase tickets or sponsor the Wayne County 4-H Legacy Dinner.  Purchase tickets on-line, at the Extension Office, or by mail using the Response Form.  Deadline is extended to this Friday April 7th.  We have had a great response so far and are looking forward to a fun evening.  This event is for adults-only.  Hope you can join us!

Dear 4-H Members, Parents, and Advisors,

Listed below are a few important reminders and announcements.  Please click the links below for more details.

4-H Livestock, Avian, Dairy, Equine, and Meats Judging Teams Now Forming.  New this year we will have an Avian Bowl Team (contact Russ Johnson) and a Meats Judging Team (contact Clint Walenciak).  The first Dairy Judging Team practice is February 5th at 1:30 at the Holstein Office on Heyl Rd. (Contact is Hannah Dye).  The first livestock judging team practice is February 8th from 6:30 – 8:00 pm at Certified Angus Beef (Contact is Erin Lucci).  Here is a complete list of teams and their coaches’ contact information.

Register Now for Food and Fashion Board Trip to New York City.  This exciting trip will be June 8-11, 2017.  Participants will travel by charter bus, explore famous fabric shops, experience a broadway show, and tour some of New York City’s famous landmarks.  Click the link above to view the trip brochure for more information.  Registration forms and deposits are due January 27th.  Call Food and Fashion Board Advisor Sharon Emler at 330-412-2581 to reserve your place on the bus today.

Parent’s Night Out – Fundraiser for Food and Fashion Board New York City Trip 

Register On-Line for February Required Advisor / Volunteer Training Sessions.  All events will be held at Fisher Auditorium.  All returning advisors, committee members, volunteers, and potential new volunteers should attend one of these three sessions.  More information and breakout session descriptions are available in the January/February Link Newsletter.

Attention Organizational Advisors – Annual 4-H Club and Committees Yearly Financial Summary Form  Due January 31st

Next Junior Leaders Meeting is Monday February 6th at the American Red Cross Building (244 W. South St. Wooster). Special guest, Marlene Eick, is coming to teach a leadership workshop for us.  There will also be recreation and snack time.  Teens – you won’t want to miss this!

Next Junior Leaders Meeting – tonight December 5th at 7:00 pm in the FFA Building at the Fairgrounds.  Come work together with Senior Fair Board members to assemble bikes for the 4-H Bikes for Kids Christmas Project.  Following the bike assembly we will be having a Gingerbread House Building Contest and games.

Dear 4-H Members, Parents, and Advisors,

Thank you to everyone that helped make this year’s Wayne County Fair a positive and successful experience for thousands of fairgoers, 4-H members, volunteers, and countless others.  Your hard work and dedication throughout the year is what makes our fair truly one of the very best.

As we begin to plan for the 2017 Wayne County Fair and the upcoming 4-H year – we welcome your comments, thoughts, ideas, and constructive criticism.  Please send your feedback in writing or attend the Junior Fair Suggestions meeting on October 17th at 6:00 pm in the Jr. Fair Office.  In addition as we begin planning for next year it is critically important that we have dedicated volunteers to serve on our committees that work to plan and carry out the 4-H and Jr. Fair program. Please consider applying or nominating someone (18 and over) that you believe would be an asset to either the overall Extension 4-H Advisory Committee or one of the nine 4-H / Jr. Fair Action Committees.

Poultry and Rabbit Meat Pick UpTonight Monday September 19th 5-7 pm at the Jr. Fair Office

TEAM Fair Clean Up Night – Tomorrow Evening – Tuesday September 20th 6-8 pm at the Jr. Fair Office.  Everyone is invited – youth, parents, and advisors.  We will be working together to clean up the fairgrounds.  If possible – please bring shovels, brooms, and/or work gloves.  Pizza and drinks will be served at 8 pm.

Market Livestock Buyer Thank You Notes – Due to Extension Office September 23rd (Note: you can look up online to find the name and address of your buyer, but all Thank You Notes must be turned in to the Extension Office before the livestock sale check will be mailed to the youth)

Organizational Advisors – Pick Up Premium Checks from the Jr. Fair Office – on September 26th and September 27th from 3-7 pm

Excellence in 4-H Award Applications – Due September 30th

County Award Medal Applications – Due September 30th
