Hervida Chicken BBQ – Volunteers Needed – May 4

Please come support the Chicken BBQ Dinner at Hervida on Saturday, May 4. Meal served 5:00 to 7:00pm. Dinners will be available for eat-in or carry-out.

This is also a great opportunity to volunteer for camp by serving, clearing tables, or donating a dessert! Donations for the Country Store are always welcome!!

4-H Event Youth Assistant Application Available (State Level Experience)

4-H Event Youth Assistant (4HEYA) applications are now available! This is an opportunity for teens 13-18 as of January 1 to get a short-term experience at the state level. Applications are available at go.osu.edu/4HEYAapp and are due by May 15, 2024.

Here is a basic overview of the opportunity:

  • What: 4-H Event Youth Assistant (4HEYA)
  • Who: Individuals age 13-18 (as of January 1 of the year of application) and have at least 1 year prior 4-H experience.
  • Timeframe: Apply by May 15, selection, training, service to OSF, and evaluation. Complete responsibilities by August 31, 2024.
  • Requirements (in addition to application/selection process):
    • Training – Must attend one of the options for training (July 10 or July 18)
      • Please note: individuals MUST attend one of the training options. This is not negotiable. If you know you are unable to attend a training option before applying, it is best to wait another year before applying to serve in this capacity.
    • Events – Must work a minimum of 3 events at the Ohio State Fair; may work more if desired
  • Program Fee: $25/person (paid at go.osu.edu/4HEYA25);
  • Teens Receive:
    • 4HEYA Polo & Nametag
    • State Fair admission, parking ticket, and meal ticket(s)
    • Optional State Fair housing in the Rhodes Center (if desired)
    • Experience of working events at the Ohio State Fair
    • Opportunity to enhance leadership skills and be involved in the State 4-H program
  • What about the Teen Leadership Council? YES, these members may apply for 4HEYA AND TLC this year, if desired. TLC applications will be available in June and will be due the Friday following the Ohio State fair. Their term is September 1, 2024-August 31, 2025. Current TLC members are not eligible to apply for 4HEYA, as they are already fulfilling obligations at the Ohio State Fair.

Horse Committee is hosting a Horse Clinic

The Washington County 4-H Saddle Horse Committee is hosting a horse clinic on Saturday April 20, 2024.  4-H members may bring their horses and work with clinician Mike Schmidt.  The event will be held at Stonegate Equine Facility located at 26236 Smith Road, Coolville Ohio.  No preregistration is required, and a light lunch will be served by the Saddle Horse Committee.  The Clinic will begin at 9am and conclude at 12noon.  Out of County 4-H members are invited and will be asked to pay a $5 fee per horse upon arrival at the clinic.  No dogs are permitted and it is suggested you bring your own chair.  4-H members need to wear appropriate attire including helmets.  Please see the attached flyer for information, and contact us at hartline.24@osu.edu for more details.

Livestock Housing Agreements – Due April 1

Do you house your 4-H or FFA Livestock at another location that is different from your home address?

Here is the form: Livestock Housing Agreement

This form applies to all livestock projects (market or breeding) in which the animal(s) is housed away from the exhibitor’s home. Housing away from home is defined as “any amount of time where an animal(s) is taken care of away from the exhibitor’s home location with the exception of shows/exhibitions.”

If the animal is shown in another exhibition, the exhibitor must not show a breeding project as a market project
or visa versa.

Any exhibitor found to be housing their animal away from home without a completed form will loose the right to
show and sell any project at the Waterford, Washington County, and Barlow Fairs for the duration of the project
year.

Form is due to the Extension Office, 1115 Gilman Ave., Marietta, no later than 4:00pm on April 1st of
the project year. One form each year per project.

  • Contact the OSU County Extension office at 740-376-7431 if you don’t have your family email address.
  • For your password, use the password you created in the past, if you forgot your password select the “Reset Password?” option. Then check your email for a password reset link.
  • Do not set up a new profile. You must log into last year’s profile.
  • To re-enroll a member from a previous year, click “Enroll Now” next to the profile of the appropriate member.
  • Please be sure to enroll for all your clubs and projects at the same time.  If you are a member enrolled in multiple clubs for instance ABC Explorers 4-H Club and XYZ FFA Chapter , then be sure to add projects to each club and chapter.  If you do not enroll for all clubs and projects before you submit then you will not be able to add them yourself and will need to contact the Extension Office to add the projects or clubs after you submitted your enrollment.
