Market Steer Weigh-in – Feb 2

Market Steer Tag-in for the Washington County Fair will be Saturday, February 2 from 8 – 9:30 at the NFO Building on SR 339, Waterford

Market Steers Only for 2019

The 4-H Livestock Committee and Washington County Sr Fairboard have approved the following rule change for 2019. Only Market Steers will be shown and sold at the Washington Co Fair. The market heifer project has been discontinued. Exhibitors will now be permitted to tag-in up to three market steers and sell up to two market steers at the 2019 Washington County Fair.

Ohio 4-H will Honor Two Washington County Award Winners March 9

Washington County 4-H is excited to announce that Charlotte Wagner, 4-H Volunteer with the Lowell Lively Lassies & Lads 4-H Club will be inducted into the Ohio 4-H Hall of Fame at the Ohio 4-H Conference on March 9 in Columbus. Also, Jeremiah’s Coffee House will be honored with the Ohio Friend of 4-H Award. Interested in joining the celebration to honor these winners and attend the conference? Looking for animals to purchase for your 2019 market or breeding projects? The OSU Extension Office has a list of local producers that have requested to be on our list. Do you have animals to sell and would like to be added? Either way, call our office to request a copy of the list or ask to be added to the list if you raise animal to be sold.

Ohio 4-H Conference Registration now Open -due Feb 8

A conference for teens and volunteers is being planned for Saturday, March 9.  The Conference and Luncheon will be held at the Columbus Convention Center.  This conference offers a wide variety of sessions to attend.  The luncheon is attended by all participants and will recognize volunteers for years of volunteer service.  Registrations are due as soon as possible.  The actual deadline is February 8th, however if you want to get your first choice of sessions it is important to register early.  The registration form and conference booklet are attached.  The 4-H Advisory Committee provides funds to cover the registration fee, however a $10 commitment fee is required.

2019 State 4-H Leadership Camp Staff Applications are now available!!

2019 State 4-H Leadership Camp Staff Applications are now available!! Interested individuals can view a letter with more information at: http://www.ohio4h.org/camp/leadership-camp titled “2019 Potential Leadership Camp Counselor/Staff Information and Application”.

Applications are due no later than April 1, 2019.

Here are some highlights about the opportunity:

  • Individuals 18+ prior to June 1, 2019 who are good leaders, past counselors, or interested in helping may apply
  • Must complete application, undergo selection, and attain background check
  • Applications due: April 1 (due to earlier camp dates)
  • Interviews: Week of April 8th
  • Staff Training Weekend (Camp Ohio): May 10-12, 2019.  Yes this is Mother’s Day weekend, but camp is so early this year, we needed to move training earlier so we could try to have everything ordered before camp!
