Washington County Fair Spring Madness Spaghetti Dinner & Gun Raffle

The Washington County Fair will be hosting a Spring Madness Spaghetti Dinner and Gun Raffle On March 10, 2018.  The dinner will be from 5 to 8pm in the Junior Fair Building.  Guests will enjoy dinner, live entertainment, 50/50 raffle and a raffle for a .22 Henry Golden Boy.  Tickets may be purchased at the door or from a Washington County Fair Board Director.  The fair board has also asked for clubs to help with the event.  This is a great opportunity for a community service event for clubs.  Clubs are needed to help with set up, clean up, serving or working during the dinner, or by donating a silent auction basket.  If you or your club is interested in helping with the event please contact Kathryn Hartline at hartline.24@osu.edu or contact Lisa McNish (Fair board Director) at 740-516-6877.

4-H Shooting Sports Program Starts

4-H Shooting Sports Program Starts…its winter session at 1:00 pm, Sunday, March 18 at Hervida 4-H Camp. Youth ages 9-19 are welcome to join in the fun while learning the basic skills of a shooting sports discipline. Choose from archery, pistol, rifle, shotgun, and/or living history. Ohio State Fair College Scholarships – due April 1

In an effort to recognize the quality youth of Ohio, and to help those interested in furthering their education, the Ohio Expositions Commission has established a
Scholarship Program for Ohio State Fair participants. The purpose of these scholarships is to assist high school juniors and seniors, and graduates who are continuing their education at an accredited institution in an under graduate course of study in any field.

Scholarships will be awarded to junior exhibitors during the Ohio State Fair. Applicants will be judged on Scholastic Standing, Citizenship and Leadership, Ohio State Fair Participation, County Fair Participation. Applications are due April 1. https://ohiostatefair.com/scholarships

Host Families Sought for 4-H Exchange Program

Families throughout Ohio have an opportunity to welcome students from the Japanese exchange program, Labo.

Looking for some new fun and educational excitement this summer? How about hosting a boy or girl from Japan in your home for 3½ weeks? The Ohio 4-H International Program is offering hosting opportunities to 75 families around the state, and Japanese youth on the other side of the world are anxiously waiting to learn who their new family might be! Host families should have their own child aged 10-15 who will serve as the main host sibling. Families will be matched with a Japanese youth of the same gender and approximate age. Special trips and activities are not required. The focus is on everyday family life. Host families provide lodging, meals, and any family activities. Medical insurance is provided. State Pullorum Testing Schools – May 2 & May 3

The Ohio Poultry Association (official state agency, NPIP) and the Ohio Department of Agriculture are combining efforts to organize Pullorum-Fowl Typhoid plate agglutination tester training classes. Whether your certification is due to expire or you have expressed interest in becoming a newly certified Pullorum tester, we are inviting you to participate in the training program. Epicenter Offering Intro Welding Class

 AN INTRODUCTION TO MIG WELDING

PRESENTED BY THE EPICENTER MAKERSPACE

When: Saturday,  March 3rd , 9  am – 3 pm

Where: 107 Lancaster Street, Harmar Village in Marietta

No Experience Necessary
In this one day course you will be introduced to one type of welding.  This hands on experience will offer the opportunity for participants to try welding in a supervised setting.  Opening the opportunity for further exploration into the career of Welding.
Requirements: Non synthetic clothing.  Jeans and Cotton ideal.  Long sleeve shirts and pants covering boots that have at least a six inch side wall to safely cover ankle and leg from any potential burns.

Time: Meet at 8 am at the Epicenter Makerspace, 107 Lancaster Street
Program offered at the Washington County Career Center from 9 am to 3 pm  One hour for lunch will be offered.

The Youth Welding Workshop provides a unique opportunity for youth ages 10-18 to develop arc welding (stick or SMAW) skills or oxyacetylene welding and cutting skills.
