G.O.A.L.S.

Honors & Scholars G.O.A.L.S.: Global Awareness, Original Inquiry, Academic Enrichment, Leadership Development, and Service Engagement.

  • Global Awareness: Students cultivate and develop their appreciation for diversity and each individual’s unique differences.
    • I plan to strive for global awareness by being involved in the Indian American community here at Ohio State, namely through the Ohio State Raas Team and the Indian American Association. The cultural organizations will give me the opportunity to learn more about and indulge in my own culture while meeting others that share my experiences. I am particularly interested in meeting people and learning more about other regional cultures within India, as India is diverse itself. I would also like to take more coursework that explores the cultural and historical aspects of different countries around the world.
  • Original Inquiry: Honors & Scholars students understand the research process by engaging in experiences ranging from in-class scholarly endeavors to creative inquiry projects to independent experiences with top researchers across campus and in the global community. For example, consider research, creative productions or performances, advanced course work, etc.
    • I am interested in research to fulfill my goal of original inquiry. I plan to take advantage of the STEP program my sophomore year, possibly leading to a research opportunity. I am also interested in coursework that has research integrated in it, such as Political Science 3549, which will allow me to do research in the Political Science field.
  • Academic Enrichment: Honors & Scholars students pursue academic excellence through rigorous curricular experiences beyond the university norm both in and out of the classroom.
    • I chose to major in both Statistics and Political Science because my career aspiration is to be a Policy Analyst and possibly also go to law school. I would like to work with data in campaigns, especially for a National Committee. In order to achieve my goals, I plan to take rigorous coursework by taking classes that I both find interesting and believe will challenge me. Beyond the classroom, I am continuing to pursue my hobbies in dance and singing, as I am on the Ohio State Raas Team and in the Majors and Minors a cappella group.
  • Leadership Development: Honors & Scholars students develop leadership skills that can be demonstrated in the classroom, in the community, in their co-curricular activities, and in their future roles in society.
    • My academic and extracurricular endeavors will help me achieve the goal of leadership development. I constantly see examples of good leadership both in and out of the classroom. I would like to take advantage of leadership opportunities in my extracurricular activities in the future.
  • Service Engagement: Honors & Scholars students commit to service to the community.
    • I am a part of a student organization called Brighter Futures, which helps high school students in the Columbus area apply and prepare for higher education, including college and trade schools. I will primarily be helping with the essay portion of the college application process, but I also plan to help in some of the events, such as ACT and SAT preparation workshops. I will continue to strive for service engagement through this extracurricular.

About Me

I am a Statistics and Political Science double-major. Music is a big part of my life. I have been doing Indian classical dance since I was six years old. I have also been singing for six years. I took voice lessons in middle school and high school, and I did show choir for all four years in high school. I was also the Stage Manager of our school theater program.
