Postdoctoral Scholars

Anisa Thomas
, PhD, RN, joined the lab in the Spring of 2021. She has worked as a neonatal intensive care unit nurse for 9 years and recently finished her postdoctoral studies at OSU focusing on understanding racial and health disparities in neonates using big data. Anisa’s long term goal is to continue to use EHR data to understand health disparities in hospitalized neonates and children to increase equity and quality of care for minorities.

Research Coordinators

Priya Hall,
CCRP and Lead Research Coordinator, joined the lab in 2020 to work on The Enhancing Nursing Care Reliability in Neonatal Intensive Care Units Study, or The CARE-NICU Study. Priya is an experienced research coordinator, facilitating studies in disciplines including psychology, business, education, and nursing. She coordinates all aspects of the study and supports the onboarding and supervision of research assistants.

Graduate Students

Sooyoung Kim, PhD Student and Graduate Research Assistant, joined the lab in 2022.  She worked as a pediatric nurse at Asan Medical Center in South Korea before coming to The Ohio State University to pursue her PhD at the College of Nursing.  She is interested in researching missed nursing care and developing clinical health services to improve the quality of nursing care for infants and children in neonatal intensive care units and pediatric settings, as well as their family members. Her current research focuses on missed nursing care related to infant drug withdrawal. Sooyoung’s long-term goal as a professional pediatric nursing scientist is to work with vulnerable infants and children suffering from chronic diseases, particularly those living in poverty, and to improve nursing quality through nursing workforce-related health services.

Jamie Baldwin, MSN, RN, NEA-BC and PhD student, joined the lab in late 2022. Jamie has worked more than 22 years in healthcare, the majority of which has been in key leadership roles that enhance the quality and consistency of care delivery. Most recently he has served as an Associate Chief Nursing officer, providing strong leadership to critical care and emergency services and successfully leading multiple clinical teams throughout the pandemic. Jamie’s current research interests involve care reliability with specific focus on measurement methodologies for missed nursing care. Jamie’s long-term goals include progressive leadership within the acute care setting, creating a PhD bridge between organizational research interests with those of the overall scientific community. Jamie believes this strategy will not only improve the delivery of nursing care but will also increase the generation of relevant nursing science.
