Statement of Action

By continuing to commit myself to academic growth and exploration, both inside and outside of the classroom, I will continue to build of my GPA and develop the skills paramount to future success in medical school and further into my career when I become a physician.

Vision Statement

I plan to graduate magna cumme laude in the spring of 2020 while also planning to attend medical the following fall by continuing to immerse myself in academic exploration, studies, and extracurricular activities. I also hope to eventually become published in an accredited research journal with the current work I am doing in Columbus and at Metrohealth.

Year in Review Part 2

After completing my sophomore year in Biological Scholars, I am realizing how much I have grown as a person from freshman year. From making new friends to developing my research, I have continued to strive to experience new things. After presenting at the Denman, I have learned how to present posters at a research forum. Specifically how to convey a message that may be confusing to someone outside your field. I also was able to join Honors & Scholars Programing Board and learn how to organize events for students on campus. While compared to freshman year there were less Biological Scholars gatherings, I was still able to stay in touch with my close friends in scholars and have a great second year. Additionally, through scholars I was able to find out about a Global Brigade trip to Honduras where I gained great clinical experience and learned more about a country I previously had little knowledge about. I plan on continuing to be involved with Biological Scholars and hope to continue to develop as a person at The Ohio State University.

Trip to Honduras

During the summer of May 2017 I was able to travel to Honduras with Global Brigades. This organization helps set up clinics across rural areas in order to reach populations in need of medical care. From this experience I was able to travel to a country knowing little of the main language, Spanish, and immerse myself in a new culture. I found the people we met to be extremely welcoming and kind. Additionally being able to triage patients and shadow physicians allowed me to gain great clinical experience I would not have been able to have in the United States.

Artifacts

The past two semesters, I was able to learn more about organic chemistry and grow as a student. Before taking ochem, I was terrified of the subject based on all of the horror stories told by upperclassman. However, after having an amazing professor and getting to know the subject, I have come to love this field of science. The image above is a picture of my model kit that allowed me to understand the confusing topics of enantiomers and diastereomers.

Abstract

Welcome to my Honors and Scholars e-Portfolio page. Over the last two years in the Biological Sciences program I haveĀ  been able to achieve so much. On my site I have various experiences from my freshman and sophomore years at Ohio State. From the Heart walk in August 2016 to becoming a chair of Honors and Scholars Programing Board, I have recorded most of my memories here.

I began posting on my e-portfolio about where I came from and then I was able to reflect back on my first year. I wrote some posts on my work with my research in the department of surgery as well as my growth as a leader through R-Lead. I have posted pictures as my artifacts, and detailed my plans for my future career. I have written about how different aspects of my life pertain to the G.O.A.L.S. set by the Honors and Scholars program. Through all of these experiences I feel as though I have grown a lot over the last two years.
