My name is Derick Schmidt, a driven and dedicated PGY1 pharmacy practice resident at the Columbus VA, who was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. I proudly hold a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from The Ohio State University University College of Pharmacy, proving me with a strong foundation in pharmaceutical knowledge and clinical skills. Through my journey as a resident, I have actively participated in various teaching development activities, including facilitating lab activities, content creation for lecture series, and grading disease management encounter SOAP notes. Guided by a student-centered approach, I strive to create engaging and interactive learning environments that foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills. I embrace adaptability and value diversity, tailoring my teaching philosophy accordingly. Through effective communication, I am committed to empowering my students to excel academically and pursue their passions in the field of pharmacy.
