Mirrors Sophomore Class Honorary

Mirrors Sophomore Honorary works closely with the James Cancer Center to volunteer and organize fundraisers. I was on the recruitment committee, who put in most of our work towards the end of last semester, preparing to select our new class. This included creating an application and interviewing potential new members. Due to COVID-19, we were unable to volunteer in person at the James, but we were provided with alternative opportunities, such as attending zoom calls. We also held several fundraisers. My favorite opportunity is when we gathered in small groups and designed succulents for the patients at the James, so they could put them in their rooms to enjoy. This experience allowed me to meet new people, build relationships, create initiative, and positively impact others’ lives. Also, I was challenged to think outside of the box and come up with alternative ways to fundraise, volunteer, and collaborate in a different way than I had ever done before because of COVID-19.
