Hacking the Academic Job Market
October 4th, 2018
8:30 AM – 3 PM
The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs in collaboration with representatives from The Professor Is In, the Ohio Union Activities Board (OUAB), and The Graduate School will be presenting a full-day workshop titled “Hacking the Academic Job Market”. This is tailored for individuals who are interested in applying for faculty positions. The workshop will have two parts:
- The Academic Job Market: a close examination of all aspects of the job search – the real conditions of the job market, what search committees look for, how to build a competitive record, and how to articulate that record in job documents and interviews.
- Unstuck: The Art of Productivity: this presentation will focus on four challenges facing academic writers – unclear expectations, work-life balance, negative self-talk, and external comparisons. Workshop participants can expect to design a writing plan and monitor progress by learning how to respond to these challenges and recognize and change their own negative behaviors, which get in the way of writing.
Limited seating is available. You can register here.
