Here is a list of upcoming events and activities at The Wilma H. Schiermeier Olentangy River Wetland Research Park.
- Monday, April 22nd, 1:00pm to 4:00pm: The ORWRP team will be leading a trash pickup around the park and along the banks of the Olentangy River. All supplies will be provided. Please be sure to sign up here to ensure that we have enough supplies for all participants. This event is limited to adults only this time around. Make sure you wear clothes/shoes that you don’t mind getting wet, muddy, or snagged on brush. Bring water, sunscreen, a hat, and anything else you might need to be comfortable. We will meet in front of the large park sign near the main entrance to the Heffner building promptly at 1pm before breaking into smaller groups for the event.
- Friday, April 26th, 3:00pm to 4:00pm: The ORWRP team will be offering a tour for free! This 45 minute to 1 hour tour of the park will be open to the public. We ask that all those interested sign up for the tour here. Please be sure to select the correct tour date when signing up.
Please note that parts of this tour will be inaccessible for wheelchair users and difficult for those with mobility issues. If you are in need of or interested in a fully accessible tour, please email us, water@osu.edu, and we would be happy to set up a private or small group tour for you! - Wednesday, May 1st, 3:00pm to 7:00pm: The ORWRP will be participating in the We Grow Scientists event at Waterman Agricultural and Natural Resources Laboratory. Visit us for your chance to see aquatic insects up close, learn about the importance of wetlands, and collect wetland related activity sheets. This event is free and open to the public! We Grow Scientists is a collaborative community event filled with hands-on science learning, it also offers a look into different STEM fields and an opportunity to visit Waterman facilities. There is no need to register for this event, and you can learn more here.
- Saturday, May 4, 11:00am – 5:00pm: Mark your calendars! We’re bringing you URBAN WILDLIFE to this year’s Big Science Celebration with COSI! Join us May 4th on the Scioto Mile. Check out the full schedule at cosiscifest.org. Can’t wait to see you there!
