Instrument Checkout

A note for JI-Row candidates about instrument checkout:

As noted in a post below, drumline sectionals will begin at 5pm before summer sessions starting on Thursday, June 8th. Allison King is our percussion assistant and is responsible for checking out drumline equipment. She will be in the lobby on the first floor of the Steinbrenner Band Center starting at 4pm to check out drums and cymbals for all summer sessions. The one exception is the first summer session on the 6th when she will be there starting at 5pm.

Due to the high demand for percussion instruments the following procedure is in place for JI-Row candidate instrument checkouts:

As a candidate eligible to tryout in August 2017, you are required to attend 4 consecutive summer sessions before being allowed to officially checkout out a drum for the summer. During this period you will need to pick up a drum to use for the night and check it out with Allison by trading an instrument for a piece of collateral (drivers license or keys). After the summer session is over you will need to return your drum in order to pick up the piece of collateral that you left with her.

Once you have attended 4 consecutive summer sessions you will be able to officially check out a drum to practice with. However, you will need to check in with Allison at each summer session and inform her if there are any summer sessions you will be missing. If you miss too many summer sessions without informing her, she can ask for you to check your instrument back in so it can be added back to the stock for use by those who are attending summer sessions.

If you are are not eligible to tryout in August 2017 you are still welcome to check out an instrument for a single session at a time with a piece of collateral, but the instrument will need to be returned at the end of each session.

For all summer sessions, except for the first one, Allison will be in the lobby from 4pm until about 5:30pm and then again for 1 hour after the marching session dismisses for the night. It is your responsibility to be there to  checkout/return your instrument or check in with her during these times. Please feel free to send Allison an email at King.1724@osu.edu if you have any questions specifically about checking out and using OSUMB drums and cymbals.

Music Update

New music has been posted to our music PDF page!  We will be using these warm ups at our summer sessions and sectionals this summer.  More music could be posted throughout the summer so be sure to check back periodically for updates.

Please bring a three ring binder with plastic page protectors to all sessions for printed out music.

Go Bucks!
