Visiting Assistant Professor of Chinese

The Department of Asian Studies at Williams College invites applications for a full-time one-year leave replacement position as Visiting Assistant Professor of Chinese beginning in the Fall of 2018. The teaching load for this position is 5 courses per year. Qualifications include Ph.D. (ABD acceptable) in Chinese literature, linguistics, or a related field; native or near-native proficiency in Chinese and English; strong teaching experience at the college level; and ability to teach all levels of Chinese language including advanced language courses, as well as courses in the candidate’s area of specialization.

Application should include a cover letter, CV, sample syllabus for one course to be taught in English and one course to be taught in Chinese, and three recommendation letters. In the cover letter, we ask you to speak to your ability to work effectively with a student population that is broadly diverse with regard to gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion.
