Based on the exciting development at our Centre for Chinese Visual Arts (CCVA), in particular, the new postgraduate programme, MA Contemporary Arts China, Birmingham School of Art, is now searching for a highly motivated, dynamic and innovative individual with strong research track records in the field, teaching experience at the postgraduate level, and/or potential to join us to realise our strategic goals over the coming years.

MA Contemporary Arts China aims to foster innovative perspectives and new understandings in Chinese contemporary arts, design and visual culture through interdisciplinary practices, research training, and first-hand experience of professional development at our partnerships of art and design organisations. It is designed for creative practitioners and dynamic researchers who have an interest and aspiration in arts and culture within contemporary China and beyond.

We are seeking a 0.8 post as Programme Leader to run this new MA, including teaching and coordinating the course, and to undertake high quality research and further develop our partnerships activities internationally. This appointment will enable visual arts researchers in the field committed to broad and interdisciplinary practices to demonstrate their very strong academic, intellectual and organisational potential in a variety of roles in the School. A PhD will be essential to contribute to this research orientated MA and to have the potential to supervise research degree candidates at CCVA. The successful candidates will also be expected to develop research bids and produce high level outputs for REF submission. Being bilingual (English and Chinese) is desirable.
