The May Research Group focuses on the broad topic of air quality. Andy’s research experience as a graduate student ranged from the passive sampling of persistent organic contaminants to wind tunnel characterization of aerosol instrumentation to the investigation of thermodynamic properties of combustion aerosol. To data, my group has built upon similar themes, with projects related to the quantification of black carbon in open biomass burning emissions; the characterization of low-cost particle sensors; and the understand of the atmospheric fate and transport of per- and poly-fluorinated alkyl substances. We conduct both laboratory and field experiments as well as computational modeling to address these topics.
