Advanced Research and Design Deliverables/Updates

Research Overview

Team P’s focus for advanced research centralized around 2 topics.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

1. Power Braking vs Coasting.

Through out the Power Braking vs Coasting research process, the team’s goal was to discover the pros and cons of either method of stopping the AEV in regards to energy usage, precision of stopping distance, and overall vehicle safety.

Utilizing controlled experimentation techniques, the important observable behavior of the AEV during the usage of both methods was determined and expressed graphically. These graphs were analyzed for the numerical representations of the AEV’s behavior and conclusions were drawn from these values. A full presentation of the experimental results and data analysis for both stopping methods can be found the ‘Power Braking vs Coasting’ subsection of this aR&D main page.

2. Battery Testing

Team P’s Battery Test experimentation involved investigation into the effects of the number and distance of AEV runs performed on the Voltage of the vehicles main battery supply source. This experiment was performed in a similar fashion to the Power Braking VS Coasting research, with a specific code being written and used as a constant for multiple experimental AEV runs. The results, conclusions, and applications of this experiment can be found in the ‘Battery Testing’ subsection of this aR&D main page.
