  • Description: Traditional Japanese paper balloons are said to have appeared around 1891, they were commonly sold to children at locations such as candy and gift shops. The paper balloon comes in folded form, and air is then blown into the object through a hole, inflating it.   They can be played with by lightly bouncing them through the air by one’s self or amongst others, and can also be used as a decorative item.  Although not as popular as they once were, they are a symbol of nostalgia to some, and are sold in various designs and shapes.
