Dr. Barbara Settles

 




Dr. Barbara Settles is a
professor in the Department of Individual and Family Studies and Policy
Fellow, Department of Urban Affairs and Public Policy at the University of
Delaware.  She is a well-recognized
national and international scholar in the field of family studies.  She consults at the local level with
daycare providers in high-risk areas to evaluate ways of involving parents
in supporting the child’s development. 
She enjoys teaching and mentoring students and professionals who are
interested in the well-being of all families.

 


Dr. Jan Hogan is a
professor in the Department of Family Social Science at the University of
Minnesota.  Jan is past president
of the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) and a past-Chair of the
Family Economics and Resource Management Division of AAFCS.  Her scholarly interests include
decision making, gender roles, financial issues, resource management, and
family ecology.  Jan’s current
research focuses on asset building with limited resource families.

Dr. Henry Shelton is Director of the
George Wiley Center in Providence, RI. 
The George Wiley Center is a state-wide educational and advocacy
organization seeking justice and equity for all Rhode Islanders.  Much of the work of the Center is
achieved through community education and awareness and community
organization and development. 
Current legislative initiatives include a state-wide refundable
earned income tax credit, emergency housing assistance, and food-stamp
outreach.
