4-H Teens Bring Digital Skills to Clermont County

The nation’s largest youth development organization is teaming up with Microsoft to help teach adults about technology. National 4-H Council and Microsoft recently announced a new partnership in select counties across the United States. The goal is to recruit tech-savvy 4-H teens, train them and equip them to go out and teach adults how to better use technology through the 4-H Tech Changemakers program.

Clermont County was one of 26 counties in Ohio, awarded approximately $8,500 to develop a 4-H Tech Changemakers program.  Funds will be used to purchase equipment and host training events throughout the county.

Local teen leaders will work with 4-H staff, community members and Microsoft to identify the most needed digital skills in their communities and develop targeted digital skills trainings. The training sessions will cover key topics from online safety to computer basics and device usage.  Details regarding specific events will be released at a later date.

Clermont County 4-H is seeking highly motivated teens, ages 14-18, who would like to become digital ambassadors through the 4-H Tech Changemakers program.  These teens will join 4-H, participate in trainings that will give them the skills necessary to lead programs, then train adults on how to use technologies such as computers, cell phones and tablets.  Becoming a digital ambassador will allow teens to build their leadership and communication skills as well as build their resumes by leading workshops in their local communities.

Teens interested in joining should fill out the interest form below by Friday, April 5.
