Poultry Projects!

Market Chicken Pick-up is Wednesday, May 24, from 3:00pm-6:00pm at 4-H Hall Kitchen on the Clermont County Fairgrounds (1000 Locust St, Owensville).  Please make sure you bring a box with a lid to transport your chickens and have food and water at home to feed your chickens.

Pullorum Testing is Saturday, June 3, from 11:00am-1:00pm in the Poultry Barn.  Exhibition and breeding chickens only; no turkeys, ducks or geese.  Market Chickens do not have to be Pullorum Tested unless they are co-mingled with other poultry.

For 4-H members raising birds for show or fun, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA-APHIS) “Biosecurity for Birds” program has multiple resources available to help members learn more about biosecurity practices that can protect their flocks from infectious disease like Avian Influenza.

Biosecurity at Fairs/Shows focuses on educating bird owners about increased disease threats during fair season. It also provides great tips for youth and families to keep on hand to proactively protect their birds and, in turn, help protect all poultry in the U.S. from disease…please read!
