Title: The Role of an Adiponectin Mimetic in the Treatment of Mice with Cancer Cachexia
Abstract: Cancer-induced cachexia results in uncontrolled weight loss and is ultimately responsible for one-third of all cancer-related deaths. The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between adiponectin and pathogenesis of cancer cachexia, with the overall goal of creating knowledge to improve the quality of life of cachectic patients.

Title: Naringenin Attenuates Muscle Loss in Ovariectomized Mice Fed a High-Fat Diet
Abstract: Skeletal muscle mass and function decreases with aging, and onset of muscle wasting can be hastened by metabolic alteration resulting from diet and disease. This study will evaluate naringenin, a dietary flavonoid found in citrus fruits, on its ability to prevent muscle wasting in older mice.

Title: Fall Characteristics in Community-Living Older Adults: A Prospective Study
Abstract: The aim of this study was to characterize fall information through a 12-month prospective fall study of older adults. Due to the high incidence of falls that occurred during the 12-month follow up, this study suggests greater precautions must be taken to ensure the safety of older adults.

Title: Effects of Acute UVB Exposure on Retinol Metabolism Proteins
Abstract: The expression of key retinoic acid metabolism proteins in the epidermis was examined 48 hours after UVB exposure. The findings may improve our knowledge of the development of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and may be useful in developing prevention or treatments.

Title: Feasibility, Acceptability and Efficacy of a Theory-Based Program Aimed at Preventing Unhealthy Weight Gain in Disadvantaged Children During Summer
Abstract: Camp NERF was a multi-component (nutrition, physical activity and mental health) program for disadvantaged children grades K-5 in summer 2014. The program demonstrated high feasibility and acceptability when coupled with the USDA Summer Food Service Program. A modest improvement in weight status was seen in camp participants.

Title:Adaptations Following Maximal Exercise Test Utilizing an MRI-Compatible Treadmill with Cine Imaging and Phase-Contrast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (PCMRI)
Abstract:This study utilized Cine and PCMRA imaging techniques to evaluate differences in cardiac function and blood flow in trained versus sedentary individuals before and immediately after a maximal exercise test using an MRI-compatible treadmill. Previous magnetic resonance (MRI) imaging studies have tested blood flow adaptations to supine cycle ergometer exercise.

Title: Associations Between Parental Depression, Personality and Cocaring: How Risk and Resilience May Predict Parent-Teacher Relationships for Toddlers
Abstract: We examined the associations among parents’ depression, personality, and their parent-teacher, or cocaring relationships. 90 parents completed questionnaires. Significant associations were found. Depression predicted higher undermining after controlling for personality. Some parents have a greater risk of developing negative cocaring relationships.

Title: Family Differentiation, Young Adult Siblings and Depression
Abstract: Using a sample of 65 pairs of undergraduate students and their siblings, this study investigated the relationship between family differentiation, sibling relationships and depression. Low family differentiation was related to low sibling warmth and depression. These findings are significant for sibling research and family therapy.

Title: Plasma Adiponectin Levels Predict for Lean Muscle Mass in Postmenopausal Women
Abstract: Menopause is associated with a rapid change in body composition characterized by an increase in fat mass and a decrease in lean mass. Adiponectin is a protein secreted from adipocytes that may play an important role in modulating energy metabolism in skeletal muscle. Preventing the loss of muscle mass can increase quality of life.

Title: Improving Self-Esteem and Reducing Female Relational Aggression in Urban Classrooms
Abstract: This study examines the results of Girl Talk, a program designed to reduce female relational aggression, in an urban fifth grade classroom. Girl Talk is a 7-week program that builds upon existing evidence-based curricula with the intent of increasing self-esteem and decreasing victimization and relational aggression in adolescent females.

Title: A Typology of Student Problem Solving Strategies on a Pattern-Generalizing Task
Abstract: 800 5th graders’ strategies to solve a pattern-generalizing task were examined. A typology of students’ responses was built. The analysis shows the most dominant approach used is seeking to establish relationship between some terms of the sequence relying on perception; extending a pattern and predicting with pattern require different thinking.
