Campus Observation Drawings

In the Campus Observation Drawings project, I built on my observation skills, my ability to use triangulation, and a hierarchy of observable details to create drawings of the Knowlton Architecture Building as well as the stone wall at Mirror Lake.

Shape Grammar

In the Shape Grammar project, I gained a new understanding of the way points, shapes and lines can be arranged to create and expose many of the design principles. I used this knowledge to create my “Haunted Movement/Repetition” design.

Studio Space Rendering

The Studio Space Rendering project allowed me to combine my new found understanding of linear perspective & essential forms with my ever-growing imagination to create my unique, coffee shop, studio space.

2D to 3D Translation

In the 2D to 3D Translation project, I was able to translate my 2D composition to a 3D composition of “Indestructible Emphasis” through exploration, attention to detail, and the use of orthographic/perspective drawings.

Reconstructed Drawings

For the Reconstructed Drawings assignment, I utilized my new knowledge of compositional elements/structures to manipulate photographs from my experience while hot air-ballooning in Lake Tahoe, which was both enchanting and overwhelming at the same time.

Mandala Pattern

In the Mandala Pattern project, I studied the power of pattern within natural and man-made forms to create an original analog design based off the Eiffel Tower and its unique shape, as well as a digital mandala based off of the movement/rhythm within butterfly wings and fingerprints.

Inventive Portraiture

In the Inventive Portraiture project, I was able to think about my mental states for how I solve problems, which are curiosity, determination, and collaboration. In combining these mental states with the use of linear perspective, form, and color, I created my own, unique portraiture.

Mandala Color Studies

The purpose of the Mandala Color Studies project was to incorporate color schemes with my previous digital, butterfly mandala work to further develop specific design principles, such as contrast, emphasis, balance, and harmony.

Conceal and Reveal

This Conceal and Reveal project allowed me to get more comfortable with tools like adobe illustrator and the laser cutter. With these tools I focused on creating a tunnel book that revolves around the homonym “Crane” and its two opposing meanings.

Interpretive Collage

In the Interpretive Portrait project, I became familiar with adobe photoshop, and with this tool I was able to mix my concept with different visual principles to create a complex and creative collage about the poem “Oranges” by Gary Soto.

Infinite Story

In the Infinite Story project, I studied/worked with the physicality of a flip book and came up with a cyclical story/narrative based on the circle of life and the relationship between a mother and her child.

Dynamic Pages

In the Dynamic Pages project, I worked with a partner to come up with a concept that we could each demonstrate motion for. We ended up centering our message around climate change, which I portrayed as an intense, rotary-like wave that will destroy everything in its path.

Chess Redesign

In the Chess Redesign project, I worked with a partner to come up with a new concept for the pieces in the game of chess. In the end, we chose to focus on Greek Mythology, where I created my pieces based off the Gods and creatures of the sea.

Gift Design

In the Gift Design project, I empathized with an industrial design student to come up with the “Plant of Affirmations” concept, which is a gift based on the idea that “design is caring, intentional and sustainable” (Akberdin).

Commissioned and Gifted Art

I thought it would be important to include my passion for art because it is super influential to me as a person and as a designer. In this post, I include some of the paintings and digital work that I have either made for a client or gifted to a friend/community member.

My Commitment to Service and Leadership

My portfolio would not be complete if I did not bring attention to my constant commitment to service and leadership. Over the past 5 years my unique service experiences have led me to think differently about design and what I wish to accomplish in the design field.
