Carnation – Fall 2014

Initiation

We recently had our initiation in Mason Hall, named after out famous DU and Ohio State alumni, and inducted 7 new brother to our brotherhood. Friends, Family, and Alumni were all present to watch the 7 men take an oath to higher ideals then their own and become a brother of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. Newly initiated brother James Oberhaus said:

I feel I can speak on behalf of all my fellow new member Delta Upsilon brothers when I say that initiation Sunday was a life changing experience. None of us have had a commitment such as this; to be apart of such an esteemed fraternity on such an esteemed campus. The past initiation was inspiring as we felt the brotherhood and community which Delta Upsilon so embodies the moment we walked in singing. Brother Eric Jaburek, who was an undergrad at Carthage College and now serves his community at the Ohio State University, gave the charge. He talked about the friendship and community of Delta Upsilon in good times and in bad. It was very inspiring when he told of how his chapter had to band together to properly fundraise for their ailing brother. Listen to brother Jubarek speak made me think of the good times and bad times I had with Delta Upsilon myself. I recall the retreat this past January and the intense discussions that were held. The culmination of the past several months, from the first time I went into the house and met the brothers, to playing football, to all our brotherhood events, the moment I signed my name below such distinguished individuals in my community made me feel so proud to call myself a Delta Upsilon Gentleman.

With the additions of the new Brothers, the fraternity ended the semester with 28 total brothers and much to look forward to coming back in the Fall semester.

Welcome!
