The Collaborative @OSU will host a free on-campus writing retreat July 10-11, 2017; from 9:30am-4p.m. in the 18th Avenue Library Research Commons. The doors will open each morning at 9:30 am for pastries, coffee and conversation with the program beginning at 10am. The retreat will be facilitated by the Writing Center and has been designed to support the work and personal wellness of all Ohio State scholars whose research is focused on advancing knowledge on the lives of women and girls of color.

The Collaborative @OSU is committed to building a vibrant research and learning community and fostering its productivity. Therefore, at our inaugural summer writing retreat, we will provide a supportive space for scholars to complete work, network and relax. Participants will also be provided with a variety of writing and wellness resources to help alleviate some of the common stressors associated with the writing process. More specifically, participants will have access to:

  • Quiet, uninterrupted time to focus and write in a calm, nurturing and encouraging environment
  • Writing center consultants available for one-on-one consultations
  • Goal setting exercises and guidance
  • Writing wellness tips and exercises to address perfectionist tendencies
  • Opportunities to share work with others

Light pastries, coffee and teas will be provided in the morning, and lunch will be provided in the afternoon.

Eligibility: All OSU scholars—faculty, post-docs, graduate students—working on research related to advancing the lives of women and girls of color.

RSVP: Participants must RSVP by Monday, July 3. Space is limited.
