Polymer Research Experience for Undergraduates

Application Deadline: February 15, 2019

The 2019 summer research experience (REU) program in the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering at The University of Akron is open to apply.

Students will participate in an 11-week internship to investigate a fundamental question within the broad disciplines of polymer science and polymer engineering, including chemistry, physics, engineering, and biomaterials.

These interns will take part in research and career development activities, discussions outlining their research progress and visits to regional companies. The summer will culminate with an oral or poster presentation of each intern’s research results at the Northeast Ohio NSF-REU Undergraduate Research Conference.

This competitive REU program is sponsored by the National Science Foundation, The University of Akron, and corporate sponsors. Support for this summer 2019 program is $7,500 ($5,500 is paid directly to student, $2000 is allocated directly to on-campus housing and related expenses.)

Additional information can be found on the program’s flyer and website.

Students must submit the application by February 15, 2019.
