Networking: Environmental Sciences and Research

This is your chance to get comfortable with the “uncomfortable” and practice your communication skills. Explore and discuss opportunities within the environmental sciences and research industry by speaking with employers in the field. This is a unique opportunity for you to hear from experts who are attending just to answer your questions through a speed networking format where you will be provided with prompts to engage employers. You’ll have a chance to interact and network with these professionals during this exciting event. Your career choices are endless and include, among others: academic research, environmental field work, lab work, consulting, and entrepreneurship.

CBC Inaugural Industry Day Recruitment Session

CBC Inaugural Industry Day - May 7-8, 2018 in CBEC

Chemistry and Biochemistry will be hosting our first Industry Day on May 7th and 8th, 2018. The full schedule of events is available on the department website.  The most exciting part for our undergraduates students is the Recruitment Session on May 8th, when you will have the opportunity to meet with our Industry partners and learn about internship and job opportunities available at their companies. The session will be held in CBEC from 2-3pm.  Let ASC Career Services help you polish up your resume, then RSVP to save your spot at the Recruitment Session by April 20th.  The list of our Industry Partners who will be attending the event will be sent to in advance of the event to those who RSVP.  All of our Industry Partners will bring both scientists AND recruiters from their HR department, so they will be able to answer any questions you have.

SIBUR IQ-CHem Competition

Image result for moscowSIBUR Holding, Russia’s largest petrochemical company, encourages open innovation strategy and commercialization of cutting-edge science discoveries. SIBUR invites students, faculty, and researchers at the Ohio State University to participate in the IQ-CHem, an open international platform for communication between start-ups and venture and strategic investors in the field of chemical technologies of the future. At the final presentation, taking place this June in Moscow, finalists will get the opportunity to meet the largest companies of the industry, find an investor, and turn their idea into a real production.

Application Deadline: March 1, 2017
Topics for proposals can include:

  • basic monomers, production and use of custom chemicals
  • modern equipment and technological solutions for higher operative efficiency of chemical and technological processes.
  • Innovative technologies and products in the field of gas processing and transportation.
  • Innovative technologies and products in the field of production and use of new plastics and elastomers.

Travel and accommodation costs are covered, and the cash prize pool is 55,000 USD.
