Opportunity #1: Bird Project

Individuals with an interest in animal husbandry and animal behavior are encouraged to apply for this position occurring from May-August. Two positions are available. Training will be provided, and assistants will  learn about the care, maintenance, and handling of wild birds for an ongoing research project. A time commitment of 2-3 hours, 2 days a week is expected, with some evening or weekend work occurring as needed with a flexibility for class schedules.

This research will occur in the Aronoff Laboratory on the Columbus campus.

Opportunity #2: Goldfinch Researchgoldfinchy

An upper-level undergraduate student with an interest in animal behavior and working with birds is needed for developing and conducting a project exploring social influences on mate choice preferences in the American Goldfinch. Experience with identifying wild birds by sight and sound is preferred but not required. Data collection will occur May-August and data analysis and write-up will extend into the 2016-2017 school year. Some evening and weekend work will be expected over the summer. The project is collaborative but independent enough for presentation at the Denman and other conferences.

This research will occur in the Aronoff Laboratory on the Columbus campus as well as other field sites on and near campus.
