OGR  The McDonnell Genome Institute at Washington University in St. Louis is now accepting applications for the Opportunities in Genomics Research (OGR) program (genome.wustl.edu). The OGR programs are directed to increasing the number of underrepresented students who pursue PhD’s in genomics and related fields. There are two OGR mentored research programs: Undergraduate Scholars, a 10 – week summer program and Extensive Study, a one-year post-baccalaureate program that includes research and enrichment activities such as GRE and graduate school preparation.

SPORE The SPORE in Leukemia program offers a one-year post-baccalaureate  program for students interested in medical research. The goal of this program is to provide post-baccalaureate trainees  from underrepresented backgrounds with an intensive 1-year exposure to leukemia-related research.  The trainees will have the opportunity to work with and be mentored by a top leukemia researcher.
 
Program features: Both programs include mentored research with premier investigators in genomics, genetics, cancer biology and other disciplines. Program benefits: competitive stipend/salary, travel to St. Louis and housing (summer program only).

Nuclear Medicine Program

The Ohio State University Medical Center offers a Nuclear Medicine Technology Educational Program for recent graduates and soon to be graduates that are interested in studying nuclear medicine technology for a future career in this field.

Applications are accepted from January 1 to April 1. 

nuclear-medicineThe 12 month program consists of clinical and classroom education, which are both completed at the Wexner Medical Center. The program begins on the last Monday of June and ends on the third Friday of the following June. Upon completion of the program, trainees meet all requirements for board certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and/or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.

Undergraduate Summer Research Opportunities through the Center for Chemical Evolution

Exciting opportunities await undergraduate students interested in summer research positions! The Center for Chemical Evolution (CCE) is looking for students interested in a 10-week, paid summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program.

Application Due: February 13th, 2017centerforchemicalevolution

The program allows undergraduate scientists to conduct supervised research with a faculty mentor working in the field of chemical evolution and origins of life chemistry. Students are trained in research methods, data analysis, and written/oral communication of their results.

This opportunity also features workshops, seminars, discussion groups, and other activities, and may include the chance to present findings via a formal poster session at the end of the summer.  Program start dates vary depending on the university to which the student is assigned, but will fall sometime between May 22nd and August 1st, 2017.  Possible research locations include:

  • Georgia Tech (Atlanta, GA)
  • Scripps Research Institute  (San Diego, CA)
  • Furman University (Greenville, SC)
  • University of South Florida (Tampa, FL)

All undergraduate researchers will receive as payment a minimum $5,000 stipend for 10 weeks of participation.

Undergraduate Research Experience: The University of Nebraska-Lincoln

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is looking for applicants for their Summer 2017 Research Program.

Interested in gaining valuable research experience and skills in the fields of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics? The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is offering a summer research program for undergraduate students. This program will give undergrad students a preview of graduate school and research experience. The Summer 2017 research programs include:

OSU 2017 Spring Internship & Opportunity Fair

Mark your calendars – the OSU Spring Internship & Opportunity Fair will be on Tuesday, January 24th, 2017!

The fair will be hosted in the Ohio Union, in the Archie Griffin Grand Ballroom from 1:00 – 5:30PM. This event is specifically designed for students looking for summer 2017 opportunities, which includes internships, volunteer opportunities, part-time summer jobs or full-time summer jobs. With over 80 companies attending, this fair really has something for every student, no matter where they are in their OSU career. Additionally, in preparation for the fair, there will be a Resume-O-Rama work-shopping opportunity in 100 Denney Hall, Wednesday, January 18th between 8:30AM – 4:00PM.
