Graduate Fellowship: SUNY Upstate Medical University

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY is recruiting highly qualified students for graduate fellowship positions for the 2015-2016 academic year.  They offer a competitive stipend (currently $24,513 per year) with a full tuition waiver.  No teaching or administrative duties are required, allowing students to focus fully on graduate coursework and laboratory research.  Most Ph.D. graduates are accepted for postdoctoral positions into top laboratories in both major research centers and in the biotechnology industry.

Students have the opportunity to research in multiple fields, including biochemistry, structural biology, molecular genetics, genomics, cell biology, cancer biology, and visual science.  Those interested in these areas of research and in using model organisms such as E. coli, yeast, flies, mice, frogs, and cultured human cells for understanding the molecular mechanisms of cancer, neurodegeneration, diabetes, visual disorders, and aging are encouraged to apply.  More information about both the Biochemistry Program and the Biomedical Sciences Program (BMS) are available on the SUNY website.
