Dr. Curley earned his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of Connecticut and Ph.D degree in medicinal chemistry from West Virginia University. After post-doctoral studies in nutritional biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin, he joined the Ohio State University in 1984. Dr. Curley has a longstanding interest in the chemistry and biochemistry of the fat-soluble vitamins, particularly vitamin A, and their bioactive metabolites with a particular emphasis on their potential as cancer preventive and treatment agents. More recently he has developed an interest in studying the plant derived precursors of these compounds, particularly the carotenoids and related plant polyenes.
