President: Divya Krishnagiri
Divya is a fourth year student at The Ohio State University from Portland, Oregon. She is majoring in Biomedical Engineering and double minoring in Entrepreneurship and Computer Science. She is currently researching under Dr. Eric Healy in the Speech Psychoacoustics Laboratory. After getting her BME degree she hopes to get her PhD in BME after which she will work in industry. Last year, she served as secretary of BMES and decided to run for president to further her involvement with the organization.

External Vice President: Mukul Govande
Mukul is a third-year student from Cleveland but originally from Hyderabad, India. He developed a love for BME after working at a BME lab at the Cleveland Clinic and continued this passion by joining BMES as a freshman. Besides course work and BMES, Mukul is a research assistant at the Experimental Hematology Research Lab led by Dr. Byrd on Med Campus, a member of Tau Beta Pi, a board member of The Global Design Mission, and leads Chimes (Junior Honorary Society) in their annual fundraising goal. After obtaining his degree, Mukul plans to pursue an MD and further the field of orthopedics. When not busy, Mukul can also be witnessed engrossed in Sci-Fi novels, nature trails, and intense basketball games.

Internal Vice President: Connor Neifert
Connor is a third-year student at OSU from Hudson, Ohio. He is a Biomedical Engineering major, and plans to minor in Neuroscience. He became involved with BMES his sophomore year in the Mentorship program. Currently, Connor is a research assistant in the Hund Lab for Excitable Cell Engineering, and is also involved in a number of other organizations including the Morrill Scholars Program and the ODI Undergraduate Recruitment Society. After he gets his degree, Connor hopes to get his PhD in biomedical engineering, and afterwards plans to begin a career in industry. In his free time, you can find him chilling at coffee shops or exploring Columbus; he also likes to run/hike/bike/climb/be physically engaged, sing, play bass guitar, and cook.

Treasurer: Ian Rasquinha
Ian is a third year student from Issaquah, Washington State. He became part of BMES during his freshman year. He is majoring in Biomedical Engineering and looks to complete a double minor in Video Arts and Computer Engineering Science. Currently, he works at the Wexner Medical Center for the Radiology department as a Student Administrative Research Assistant and Communications Specialist. He works in various labs to assist research work when needed, and works to document research through videos and papers for a range of people. After he gets his BME degree, Ian plans to finish a Master’s degree in medicine and specialize in radiology.

Professional Development Chair: Marissa Ruzga
Marissa is a fourth year undergraduate student from Cincinnati, Ohio. She is majoring in Biomedical Engineering and minoring in Neuroscience. After graduating, Marissa plans to attend graduate school and focus on tissue engineering. She became involved with BMES in her second year as an Engineering in Healthcare Symposium committee member. Outside of BMES, she is a research assistant under Dr. Swindle-Reilly at the Lab for Biomimetic Polymeric Biomaterials, and is a part of the Scarlet and Gray weather forecasting team.

Projects Chair: Teddy Renner
Teddy is a third year BME undergraduate student at Ohio State and is originally from Akron, Ohio. He currently serves as one of BMES’s E-council reps and was previously involved in BMES as the Medical and Industry Visits Coordinator. Teddy is also involved in the Humanitarian Engineering Scholars program at OSU, and is an Eagle Scout and loves camping. He also loves to follow Cleveland sports and enjoys cooking. After earning his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, Teddy plans on attending medical school.

Natalia is a second-year Biomedical Engineering student from Mississauga, Ontario. She is part of the Honors Program and is a National Buckeye Scholar. She loves working with children, so she volunteers as a Reading Buddy at the Columbus Library. In the future, Natalia hopes to earn an MD/PHD in biomedical engineering and pursue research in Oncology. Natalia loves cooking, baking, and likes to call herself an amateur cake decorator. She spends her free time learning new recipes on Youtube, eating at different restaurants, and rock-climbing.

Social Events Chair: Ada Kanapskyte
Ada is a third year biomedical engineering student. Ada came to OSU from Chicago, but she is originally from a small town in Lithuania. On a typical day, you can find Ada in nearly every corner of campus: she’s a Resident Advisor for the Engineering Learning Community on North campus, a research assistant down on medical campus, she’s the Outreach Chair for the Buckeye Space Launch Initiative on West Campus, and occasionally, you’ll find her interviewing OSU’s postdocs at the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs in the center of campus! Once she receives her bachelor’s degree, Ada hopes to work for NASA and continue to share her love for science and space by continuing to do outreach activities with kids in her community.

Faculty Liaison: Naji Chaar
Naji is a fifth-year biomedical engineering undergraduate student from Michigan, but is originally from Damascus, Syria. He took a gap year during his junior year to intern at Ethicon Endo-Surgery and US Endoscopy in designing and manufacturing minimally invasive surgical devices. Naji has pursued global involvement during his college career by working on the Jaipur Foot prosthetic for a summer in India, participating in a community service trip to Guatemala, and taking a semester abroad In Seoul, Korea at Korea University. Naji is also involved in the Humanitarian Engineering Scholars program, Design for 90, Tau Beta Pi, and volunteers at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center. In his free time, he enjoys playing the piano, table tennis, fencing, and exploring various hiking trails in Ohio with his fellow buckeyes. Once he obtains his degree, Naji plans to progress the field of healthcare by specializing in minimally invasive surgical devices as a manufacturing or design engineer.

E-council Representative: Alex McCullough
Alex is a second year student from Cleveland, Ohio. She is majoring in Chemical Engineering and pursuing a minor in Biomedical Engineering. Outside of BMES, she works as an Office Assistant for Ohio State residency and is an active member of Block O. In her free time she enjoys yoga, travel, kayaking, and trying new food. After graduation, she plans on attending graduate school to focus on nanotechnology.
