About Me

Hello! My name is Lauren Beard and I am a freshman attending The Ohio State University where I plan on majoring in business with a specialization in marketing. I am also a part of the Media, Marketing, and Communication Scholars Program. I decided to study business at The Ohio State University because of the versatility the major allows me to have as I am working through future plans and career options. I have interests from medicine to food to fashion, etc. so I wanted a major that would allow me to create a path to any that I was most drawn to without having to reshape my academic career entirely.

A little bit more background information on myself: I am from the small town of Ontario, Ohio, just about an hour north of Columbus, but my entire family bleeds scarlet and gray! Although I love the rural feel of my hometown, I love to explore what larger cities have to offer. I have traveled all over the country for the past eleven years due to being a dancer and working with companies such as Joffrey Ballet in Chicago and the Radio City Rockettes in New York City. I am truly grateful for the opportunities that dancing has presented to me and hope to continue through college. In recent years, I have taken an interest in competing in pageants in order to obtain scholarships. I’m honored to have been crowned Miss Ontario, Miss Mansfield’s Outstanding Teen, and currently hold the title of Miss Arnold Teen Fitness. At Ohio State, I hope to become involved in organizations that will not only allow me to better myself, but rather to be selfless and give back to the community as a whole.

As a born and bred Buckeye, I couldn’t be more excited to see what the future holds for me at Ohio State! Upon arrival, I hope to immediately become immersed into student organizations as a way to share similar interests with others, build connections, and make friends. During my four years at The Ohio State University, I want to ensure that I am getting the most of the prestigious resources offered on campus in order to secure a bright future ahead! Among finding places that I fit in and that are familiar to me, I want to venture out of my comfort zone to see what new opportunities could arise. Ohio State could not be a better fit for my home away from home. Go Bucks!
