Lab Hours

Any individuals who are interested in what we do in the Voice and Resonance Laboratory, your visits are welcome.  Our lab is located at Pressey Hall, Room 007 (1070 Carmack Road).  Please contact Youkyung Bae (bae.180@osu.edu) to schedule your visit.

Lab Resources

A variety of research/clinical instruments are housed in the Voice and Resonance Laboratory.

  • Aerodynamics – A pressure-flow device (PERCI-SAR, MIcrotronics, Inc., Chapel Hill, NC) is available for recording and analyzing speech aerodynamic data.
  • Acoustics – The lab has high-quality audio recording and speech analysis devices and software, including the Computerized Speech Lab, Visi-Pitch, and Nasometer (KayPENTAX™, Montvale, NJ).
  • Three-dimensional visualization/processing software  – Amira 5.6 (FEI, Hillsboro, OR) and ImageJ (National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD)

Opportunities to Join the Lab

Opportunities exist for undergraduate and graduate students who are interested and have experiences in one or more of the following areas: speech science, cleft palate speech, velopharyngeal structures and functions, speech acoustics, bio-imaging, and signal processing.  Students with excellent academic writing skills are preferred.   Volunteer and independent study opportunities may also be available.  Contact bae.180@osu.edu for more information.
