Three tutorials on how to use Jing

In this section of Arts & Sciences 2120: Information, Search, Evaluation and Use you will be asked to create screen capture videos.

For those who do not already have and use video screen capture software on your computer, we recommend download the free version of Jing, available for both Windows and Mac.

Jing is a simple tool to use to record video of your computer screen as well as capture audio of narration.

Below are three different tutorials on using Jing for varying levels of comfort with technology. No single tutorial is perfect, so if you are less comfortable with learning new technologies, then I would recommend viewing all three.

Additional tutorials, such as saving content or using Screencast.com can be found on the Techsmith website.

Tutorial 1: Creating your first Jing video tutorial

This is an official tutorial on using Jing from Techsmith, the creators of Jing. If you are fairly comfortable with learning new technology and want a quick overview on using Jing, I recommend this tutorial.

Tutorial 2: Step-by-step tutorial covering installing and downloading Jing

If you need guidance on downloading and installing Jing as well as using and publishing videos to a website (not required for course), this tutorial is more comprehensive.

Tutorial 3: How to use Jing overview

This tutorial is more comprehensive than the first for using Jing. It has been created by a Jing user and is somewhat entertaining and humorous to watch.
