About Me

IMG_6911

My name is Kaitlyn Annandono and I am a first year student at The Ohio State University. I am a marketing major in the Fisher School of Business, and I am a member of the Mount Leadership Society Scholars Program. In high school I was involved in many activities, such as National Honors Society and Relay for Life. Both of these organizations were highly focused on performing acts of kindness for others. That particular type of service is something I have great interest in, and plan on continuing throughout my college career. I was also very musically inclined, and participated in numerous symphonic bands within and outside of school.

Throughout my entire life, I have always had this enthusiasm to learn and expand my knowledge. Involvement within the community as well as service projects are a passion of mine. I enjoy talking to people and thrive in a very hands-on environment. Eventually I hope to obtain an internship in marketing with a fashion retail company, since design and dress have always been interests of mine.

Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. G.O.A.L.S.

Global awareness is an aspect of G.O.A.L.S that I thought I had a pretty good grasp on, until I came to Ohio State. I have been exposed to many different cultures and ideas, unlike anything I had ever seen in my small hometown. There are so many opportunities for studying abroad here at Ohio State, and I plan to take advantage of those throughout my time here as a student. In one of my social sciences classes, we had to do an identity project, and many of my classmates presented during class. This really made me realize how different we all are, and how our diverse backgrounds create such an environment of global awareness.

As a freshman, I haven’t had many experiences with research, however I hope to get involved considering Ohio State has such great resources. I have created original video projects for certain classes, and I have discovered that this is something I really enjoy doing and may possibly end up doing as a minor.

My classwork has definitely been more rigorous then I previously imagined it would be, but it has really given me the ability to develop my study skills. I enjoy being challenged academically because I feel that it contributes to my overall learning, and it helps me achieve more than just memorization.

Being a part of the Mount Leadership Society scholars program, I have been given a great opportunity to enrich my leadership skills. I have learned different leadership styles throughout the course of the scholars seminar, as well as outside of the classroom. Leadership comes in many different forms, and I have realized this through different activities that we have done in my scholars program. We also participate in an annual project called Legacy Week, where I have taken a leadership role as a Marketing and Motivation Coordinator of one of the teams. I figured that this hands-on experience with leading a team would benefit me in any future roles as a leader, even in my professional career.

Mount Leadership Society also is largely focused on service, and we have the opportunity to do service every month. Whether it is working with children, or other agencies in the Columbus area, I am able to fulfill my passion of service through work with the community.

Artifacts

This is a photo taken at the 2015 Top 10 Banquet, where I was recognized along with 9 others for achieving the 10 best GPAs in our graduating class. I wore the medal I received at graduation, and was honored to receive such recognition. Throughout high school, I had an extremely competitive class! For this very reason, achieving Top 10 status was always a goal of mine. However, the best part of the experience was sharing it with some of my closest friends. Every single person in this picture had a positive impact on my life, and truly influenced not only my academic accomplishments, but the development of my personal character.
