Ohio State Bound: Carley

Welcome to the Buckeye family, Carley!

Carley is a recent graduate of Carey High School and will be majoring in agricultural communication this autumn at Ohio State.

When we asked her what she was most excited about becoming a Buckeye and why she chose her major, she said “I chose agricultural communication because I’m really passionate about sharing agriculture’s story with consumers. And I’m most excited to be a Buckeye because of the football games!!!”

Ohio State Bound: Adrianne

Welcome to Ohio State, Adrianne!

Adrianne is a recent graduate of Hillsdale High School and will be majoring in agriscience education.

When asked why she chose her major and what excites her the most about becoming a Buckeye, Adrianne said, “I chose my major because of my agriculture educator in high school. I saw the passion he had for agriculture and how much time and effort he put into his students. The sacrifice and drive he has made me want to follow in his footsteps. He installed a passion for agriculture that will never fade.

“The thing that excites me the most about becoming a Buckeye is all the different opportunities that OSU has and all the new friends I will meet that have the same interests as me.”

Ohio State Bound: Olivia

Welcome to the Buckeye family Olivia!

Olivia will major in agriscience education at the Columbus campus. When asked why she selected her major, she said “I chose agriscience education because of my passion for the agriculture industry, the health of the planet and for the people that live on Earth. Becoming an educator will allow me to hopefully continue having a positive impact on students and their environment.”

Olivia is a recent graduate of Zane Trace High School.

Ohio State Bound: Kolt

Welcome to the Buckeye family, Kolt!

Kolt is a recent graduate of Kenton High School and will major in agricultural communication this autumn.

When asked why he selected his major and what he was most excited about, Kolt said “I chose this major to help bridge the communication gap between agriculturalists and consumers. I’m most excited have access to all of the brilliant resources and networking opportunities at OSU!”

Ohio State Bound: Paige

Welcome to the Buckeye family Paige!

Paige will be a freshmen studying agriscience education.

When asked why she selected her major, she said “My ag teacher and all that she does for her students, along with a love for agriculture and the FFA, inspired to me to pursue agriscience education.”

“I’m excited to attend OSU in the fall and meet new people that love agriculture as much as I do.” She is a recent graduate of Edon High School in Edon, Ohio. #new2osu

Opportunities for individuals to earn a graduate degree (M.Ed., M.S., or Ph.D.) in agricultural and extension education at Penn State University starting Fall 2017.  They have two Ph.D. and two Master’s slots available.  Strong applicants will also qualify for a graduate assistantship that covers tuition, a nice stipend, and a University subsidized (80%) health care plan.  We support Ph.D. students for three years and Master’s students for two years.

Tyler will be a freshmen studying agriscience education on the Columbus campus this autumn.

When asked why he selected his major, he said “I chose agriscience education because I have a passion for diverse education and professional development. I believe that ag teachers have the strongest curriculum that embraces a non-traditional classroom experience that truly prepares students for life after high school.”

He is a recent graduate of Pymatuning Valley High School.

Emma Newell will be a freshmen in agricultural communication. She is a recent graduate of Pickerington North High School.

When asked what excites her the most about becoming a Buckeye she said, “I am so excited to learn about the unknown. College is a time to learn about things that I don’t even know exist, and I am looking forward to embracing the experience.”
