Help Needed!
We are in need of student input for a number of upcoming blog post topics. Do any of the statements below describe you?

Interview Mock Madness
You are attending career expos and applying to jobs, but are you ready for the interview process? The CFAES Career Development Office is providing extra help with interview preparation during our upcoming mock interview sessions. These will be 30 minute sessions allotted to students on a first come first serve basis. Mock Interview sessions will be offered during the following dates and times:
·         Tuesday, 2/9: 9:00- 11:00am Room 100 Ag Admin
·         Friday, 2/12: 9:00- 11:00am Room 100 Ag Admin
·         Thursday, 2/18: 1:00- 4:30pm Room 100 Ag Admin
To schedule a 30 minute mock interview during one of the above days and times, Please call 614-292-6891 and indicate that you are calling to schedule a Mock Interview with Mary McLaughlin.

Career Closet event: Free Professional Attire
Interviews are tricky, especially when you don’t have the right attire to dress to impress. Student Life’s Career Counseling and Support Services can help. Don’t have the budget to purchase an outfit for an upcoming interview? Stop by the Career Closet event at the Ohio Union in Dance Hall 1 & 2 on February 16. We will have clothing, shoes and accessories, everything you need to make a lasting impression, for free! Boots to Business
Sigma Alpha is presenting their first annual Boots to Business on Monday, February 22. Registration and mocktails will begin at 6:30pm and the event programming will begin at 7:00pm in the Agricultural Administration Auditorium. The event provides an opportunity for students seeking professional development or who are preparing for the CFAES Career Expo. Students are encouraged to wear business casual attire.
·         Register by February 14 to receive a resume review by an industry professional prior to the event. Students can interact in a round table setting with the industry professional who reviewed their resume during the Resume Review session.
·         Registration without a resume review is open until February 19.
·         Students can pick two of three breakout sessions titled: Your Online Profile, Career Expo Pick-Up Lines and Conquering the Interview

Roaring Recognition- 63rd Annual Recognition Banquet
CFAES is roaring towards the 20s! On April 7 at 5:30pm, the 63rd Annual CFAES Recognition Banquet will be held at the Ohio Union in the Archie Griffin Ballroom. Beginning on February 24, tickets will be on sale for $10 and can be purchased in Agricultural Administration room 100, Kottman Hall room 210, or from a banquet committee member (who will be wearing the “nifty” t-shirts!). Upon purchasing your ticket, please indicate if you prefer the vegetarian option. Be sure to purchase your tickets for $10 before March 24. Beginning March 25, ticket prices will increase to $15. Tickets will also be available at the door. It’s going to be the bee’s knees, and we hope to see you there!

DJ needed for the 2016 Back-2-School Bash
The Back to School Bash Committee is looking for a DJ to hire for their 2016 fall event. The only requirements are that they must have their own equipment to bring to the event and that their equipment contain four or more speakers. The LeaderShape Institute is “six intense days of dialogue and interactive self-discovery in a supportive learning community. The institute is the flagship program from the nationally recognized nonprofit organization LeaderShape, Inc.

LeaderShape: Ohio State is scheduled for Sunday August 14 – Friday August 19, 2016. Visit the LeaderShape: Ohio State website to learn more and apply! Applications will be accepted until 11:59pm on Friday March 11, 2016. Applicants will be notified of their status in early April. 2016 Homecoming Court Applications Available
2016 Homecoming Court applications are now open!  Applications can be found and completed at at this link, under “apply”.  Undergraduates who have completed at least 60 hours by the beginning of Fall 2016 and maintained a 2.5 cumulative GPA are eligible to apply.  Applications are due on Friday, March 4, 2016.  All information can be found at at this linkand questions can be directly to Lauren Luffy at luffy.2@osu.edu.

Agricultural Communication Critique & Contest
Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow members are invited to submit work to the NACT Critique and Contest. Incoming and current CFAES, ATI/Wooster students and Ohio 4-H members your care in completing this form is very important. Please carefully read and follow the instructions. If you are applying for Ohio 4-H scholarships, there will be additional drop down boxes to complete. The priority deadline for submitting this form via the web is February 15, 2016. Apply here

Scholarships to Summer Classes at Ohio State’s Stone Lab
You don’t have to choose between advancing your education and spending time outdoors this summer. Get the credits you need for your degree and the experience you need for your future career at Stone Laboratory, The Ohio State University’s island campus on Lake Erie. Earn two credits for a one-week course or four credits for a five-week course as you study Great Lakes plants and animals up close. Scholarships and part-time jobs are available. Science majors taking a five-week course can apply for our Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Scholarships Program. You’ll spend your non-class days working with a top scientist to complete your own research project — and get your room and meals free.

Ohio Agriscience Internship Program
The Ohio Agriscience Internship Program serves as an intensive program to prepare current college students for careers as agricultural educators. This internship and professional development opportunity exposes students studying agricultural education to all aspects of Team Ag Ed. After participating in the program, students gain knowledge in technical content, organizational structure and real teaching experiences.
The internship program focuses on three main objectives for student to learn and grow:
·         Hands-On Agricultural Education Experience
·         Comprehensive Organizational Experience
·         Professional Development Experience

Compensation: Interns will not be compensated hourly. Instead, students will receive an $8,000 scholarship for their work during this 12-month internship program.
